Don't know why the rating is so low. I went to have lunch , there was a short line which gave me enough time to choose my order (Hot Chocolate and Stake Bake) which was lovely and the staff were really kind. I recommend getting the Greggs app as when you sign up there is a free hot drink to redeem.
I’ve just read a review regarding Greggs in Ambleside and feel the need to respond as I work there.
Most of what you say is correct regarding housing and employment in the area. It’s really hard to get staff for every business due to second homes and holiday let’s. Our young people just can’t afford to live here
As for 2 people being able to run the store one serving and one cooking unfortunately that’s not the case.
If it was that easy we’d be open. We need several people in store to make it work.
Our sandwiches are freshly made each day and that’s another person we need.
I’m sorry we weren’t open but there is more goes on behind the scenes than a lot of customers realise.
As a team we do the best we can everyday with the staff we have.

We were up and about very early in Ambleside last week and desperately seeking a coffee. Nowhere was open but the delightful lady in Greggs took pity on us and made us two flat whites free of charge. We were very touched by this lovely gesture and the coffee was delicious! Thank you 😊
The Greggs has relocated and had major upgrade! Lovely staff with fast service!

Coffee and a big croissant for £2.5, what a gift of a breakfast. Ambleside has a seating area so was great to sit inside whilst a shower passed.
Greggs are so underrated! The coffees are so much better nowadays and their cinnamon buns are soft and very tasty. Their breakfasts are the real treat though..excellent value and very good for you! Ok..not good for you but superb nonetheless :)
With my job (wagon driver) Im a frequent face to Gregg's across the area, my morning isn't complete without my bacon bun and a coffee. This is without question my favorite haunt, the staff are all amazing, super helpful and always up for a chat. It's only a small detail but this is the only Gregg's I go to where I get asked if I would like a large coffee, unless you ask for one all the others just give you a regular. In addition to that till I started going here I didn't know Gregg's did coffee discounts if you have a reusable cup. The location is also really good, being the easiest to park a HGV outside.
It's a greggs so good quick food but was being run by 3 younger lads who were having a bit of a laugh.
