Don’t normally go into Costa in Ambleside, but I really enjoyed my visit today. Sat in the window seats which are bright and spacious.
The manager was enthusiastic, happy, polite and very welcoming. In fact the manager made my visit as pleasant as any of the many quality tea rooms in the town.
Lovely cup of coffee as nice as any Costa coffee I’ve had before.

This Costa has a staffing shortage we arrived yesterday to find it was shut due to this. However on previous occasions there has just been one person doing everything, despite this we have always found them to be efficient, friendly and welcoming. So good staff, on this basis I would have rated 5 star but having found a parking spot and walked up to the store only to find it shut at 3.30 pm was just a little disappointing 😞
They guy serving wasn’t English, he may have been Spanish, but he was absolutely fantastic. He was brilliant with all the customers and my hot drink was actually hot but drinkable. He also tried upselling in a really natural way. What a superstar. These days Baristas are so terrified of all the red tape around hot coffee too, more often than not it’s tepid. Anyway, what a pleasure
I ordered large maple and hazelnut latte with gingerbread muffin. I have been served by a professional and friendly staff Lau. The coffee was excellent! Thank you so much.
It a beautiful shop it low staffed but they are lovely people they work very hard!
What a warm early morning welcome from Alex who was so cheerful and his coffee making was a joy to behold the best early morning coffee we have ever had at a Costa outlet
Visited here several times on holiday to be served by the wonderful Lauren each time who was exceptionally friendly, helpful and really lifted our mood after full days sightseeing tired and wet.
Unfortunately the queue was very long on several occasions as there was only one person serving, and the coffee did taste quite weak but i understood the coffee machine was needing repair. Despite these problems Lauren did make the experience pleasant. I would go so far as to say the coffee was the worst taste i have ever had at any Costa so i hope management do actually taste the product as good customer service can only go so far.
Always visit this Costa Coffee when in Ambleside and always get a warm welcome from Alex or Lauren who are the regular staff who have time for a chat and always make a great cup of coffee.
When we are on holiday in the Lakes we visit several times, try to keep us away we need our coffee fix.
Just like to say thank you to Lauren who worked on her own on Boxing Day in the Ambleside shop.
She had a smile on her face the whole time whilst serving a long line of people.
Excellent customer service - she should get a bonus for working alone on such a busy day.
