Annie and Nick make you so welcome! Solid value for money, great portions, and warm atmosphere! Homely and not a chain location!!

This is a truly welcoming 'English Pub 'in the beautiful hamlet of Woodside. Superb bar with lively and attentive staff. Great beer selection and absolutely outstanding restaurant serving amazing food served swiftly, piping hot and with a smile too! The menu selection presents so many wonderful dishes to suit all tastes (unless your dead from the neck up) and making a choice is so difficult as they are all so wonderfully succulent but the servers will help you as they are really knowledgeable and considerate (very refreshing). In the summer they have a superb garden often with Morris Dancers in the evenings. Saw carol singers in the winter, such ambience. The Management deserve credit for what they have built up over 20+ years! Obviously a focal point in the hamlet community. If you want a truly wonderful visit go by taxi and stay safe.

We recently visited The Duke of Edinburgh for lunch, it was just the three of us, celebrating my mums birthday, it was a Sunday, so naturally we chose the roast, the choice of food was very good, but the roast was our favourite. It arrived at our table surprisingly quick, which was a plus, the food was lovely, hot, plenty on your plate, thoroughly enjoyed it!! Good choice of desserts too. Staff really friendly, nice homely atmosphere.

In the gap between xmas and New Year, it it often difficult to get a decent Sunday lunch. But the Duke of Edinburgh took our reservation a day ago and we had a great time there. Yes it was very tight on parking, but on entering we were greeted and quickly shown our table for 4. The place was full and meals were coming out constantly, plates piled high. Everyone was tucking in, so we knew it would be good. Our set of waitresses, were all young and friendly and efficient. Our drink order came very quickly, and our meals arrived within 10 mins of our order. They were delicious and very filling, but we found space for desserts too.... our bill including drinks for mains and desserts came to £101 including service charge. If we were being really picky about our Sunday mains, the roast potatoes were huge and would have been better cut in smaller sizes. A lovely atmospheric pub with good food and great young wait staff. Perfect Sunday Lunch then....

Although its not far away from where we live we haven't visited the DoE for a long time. We dined there last night all fifteen of us and it couldn't have been better, warm cozy atmosphere, great food, excellent service. They serve Arkells beer of Swindon, apparently the furthest pub from the brewery. Fantastic menus to suit all tastes.

Really very good food from the Xmas menu, large portions (enough for a doggy bag!), great service, good choice of beers, lovely venue, good value, can't fault anything.

Has great potential, but anyone who knows their stuff also knows that you can’t have a huge menu and great (and fresh) food. It’s such a basic mistake to make, and is usually driven by a chef or owner who can’t let go. “But old Harry always comes her for the (XYZ), so we can’t possibly take that off”. But you can. You might upset old Harry, temporarily, but you’ll reap the benefits of a whole new, and larger, fanbase. Reduce the size of your menu, and give proper attention to each dish. Also, most people aren’t fooled by super-large portions trying to compensate for lack of refinement. Decent portion size, but really well done, is what impresses and ensures volumes of people will take a detour to get to you, instead of relying on the old faithfuls. Back room furnishing and lighting is all wrong - too bright, and all a bit 70’s. Suggest a refurb, and take input from an interior designer.

Returned to this pub. Very popular, parking is limited so get there early on weekends. Dining room has been brightened up with better seating. Good pub menu. Speedy service.

This old pub is tucked away in an area of Ascot called Winkfield. It has an old world charm. The staff are friendly and there is a cosy atmosphere. The menu is traditional pub stuff but the food is exceptional! Parking can be a problem at busy times as the car park is small and the location is in a country lane.

My wife and I decided to call in on-spec for lunch on Wednesday 16-10-2019 as we had lunched there on several previous occasions and had always had excellent food and service. Although we had not booked a table we were given a seat immediately by a freindly member of staff. My wife ordered Lasaigne and I ordered Steak and Ale pie. When the food arrived everything was piping hot. This makes a very pleasant change from some establishments who cannot seem to get everything hot which should be hot. All-in-all an excellent pub with good excellent atmosphere, good beer and friendly and efficient staff. We would thoroughly recommend this pub.

Lunch today with friends their fish and chips and ham egg and chips looked good and they all liked their meals. I chose the tuna and mayo baguette which was tasty but the tuna and mayo filling was so runny I had to eat it with mu knife and fork rather than pick it up as normal.

This place is super for a family meal. The restaurant was busy when we arrived but it soon quietened down very much, allowing us to talk freely. We were seated out of the way which is how we like it. Exceptional food, great value. We hope to return.

A lovely local traditional friendly pub. It does everything consistently well. Drinks, food, decor... just a great local pub for any occasion. A rather good restaurant, fabulous Sunday lunches & during the week you’re guaranteed a good meal & friendly service. They are rather keen Chelsea fans, but don’t let that put you off 😂 they do have 2 large tv screens that show sport, but the volume is down, so if you like your sports, a perfect place to stop at. Almost forgot, what an inviting pub garden, plenty of tables, chairs & umbrellas. Why go anywhere else, let’s keeps it local.

I was encouraged to visit by good reviews on here and Facebook. Given the area I was expecting good quality food with a nice atmosphere. The atmosphere is there, the food just wasn’t. The burgers weren’t seasoned, served with the blandest of cheeses (Monterrey Jack) and a bun that looked like Tesco value. Chips were good though. Reviews here focus on quantity. Yes, the food was substantial - more than anybody needs - but not a good eating experience. Shame because the beer garden was nice especially with the aviary.

Stopped by with friends of mine on a monday night for a pub dinner. The food was lovely. My old man is a fussy sod but even he found 3 courses that he enjoyed. Beer was good, wine was lovely. Thanks for a great evening/
