This review is for the pub/food as I didn’t stay at the hotel. Food was excellent and reasonably priced for the quality. The service was even better, a lovely lady called Donna served me and my girlfriend and brought over a muffin with a candle in to celebrate my girlfriends birthday. Will definitely be visiting again.

Had a family celebration Sunday lunch which everyone enjoyed. Good choices on the menu, you don't have to go for a roast. I particularly liked that you could have half a pud with your choice of tea or coffee. All in all a good experience. We didn't stay so can't comment on the rooms.

Nice out of town location, rustic decor and good selection of food and drink on offer. We stayed in the accommodation which was clean and well arranged. Only comment is that it would have been good to get a discount on breakfast when staying here. It was too much for a family of 4 with children (£50+ with drinks) so we left to find a much more economic alternative.

Stayed for 2 nights, room was nice, very quiet, huge wide bed but too short for tall folks. Good breakfast selection, my only complaint being they serve instant coffee (yuk) from a thermos, or you have to pay extra for real coffee! Not being a tea drinker, this spoiled my breakfast experience somewhat - I have never stayed anywhere else where they do this. Restaurant is pleasant, I was in a party of 6, and everyone enjoyed their food.

Booked in for Sunday lunch 3/9/23 with my wife. The restaurant was sunny and bright and without background music. I had Sea Bass and Scallops on Risotto. The Sea Bass was beautifully cooked with a crisp skin while the Scallops were tender and sweet. The risotto was delicious and a worthy accompaniment. The dessert of apple tart and ice cream was a delight. Full marks for everything. We shall come again

An overnight stay at The Wheatsheaf on our way to Heathrow Airport seemed like a good idea. And it turned out to be an excellent idea! The team that greeted us were friendly and professional and we felt welcomed and comfortable straight away. The first thing we noticed though, was the smell - which was heavenly! No, really, it was! The hotel smelled like fresh hyacinths or fuchsias or roses or something. I don't really know what the flower scent was but it was wonderful. If I could have my home filled with that scent I would be a very happy bunny. The room was fine, the standard hotel double room and bathroom. And it was very clean which is extremely important in my book. Our room was on the ground floor in the newer part of the building with easy access for wheelchairs. We went through a little corridor straight into the pub but there was no problem with noise in our room. We had a very nice meal from a good menu and, again, the team were smiley, efficient and professional. We think that they had been well trained. The pub has a great ambiance as you would hope from a historic coaching inn. It was well decorated with quirky items which were well curated. The bed was very comfortable and we slept well. The price for the overall stay was very competitive and very good value. We definitely recommend it!

We went for breakfast as is open from 8am on a Sunday. Dog friendly which also really helps. We didn't stay at the hotel, but everything we saw looked neat and clean. Helpful staff and a decent menu.

Place is decent. May need an update with the rooms but they are big. Can't fault the staff. Breakfasts are good but one day the bacon was far too overcooked and salty... But that will have just been the day. Breakfasts are spot on really. That was my only downside. You need a car for this place. Pub sglhuts about half 10 which is not ideal if you are staying there. Would be good with a 12am licence. All round decent place though.

We booked a room here last minute for a very fair price. There are lots of staff on duty in the restaurant and they are extremely friendly offering excellent service. The pub restaurant is full of character with a great selection of drinks and the food was extremely good. Thankyou 😀
