Bites of India Botanic in Belfast offers a cozy dining experience with delicious, authentic Indian cuisine. Some diners may find the portion sizes to be on the smaller side, requiring the need to order additional rice or bread. Despite this, the restaurant's attentive staff and welcoming atmosphere make it a lovely spot to savor Indian flavors in Belfast, making Bites of India Botanic a great choice for those craving authentic Indian cuisine.

A bite of India in Belfast. Stuck to a vegetarian fare so can't comment on the non vegetarian dishes. In fact I sampled only the South Indian dishes. Samosas were great and so was the idli. Medu wadas were a bit chewy, not crisp pretty much below par. Dosa was alright. The chutneys and sambar were decent. So was the complimentary papad . Slightly priced on the higher side but alright. They have some discounts running most of the times as well .

We had chicken biryani, lamb biryani palak paneer and naan garlic. All are delicious. So glad to find this halal restaurant quite close to the Queens university. They give 10% discount when you pay cash.

My wife and I went out for a dinner after several months and therefore it had to be good and this new branch of Bites of India didn't disappoint! The staff are amazing and so are the foods.
They offer a decent variety and quality isn't compromised. Would definitely recommend.
If you are ordering a take away main course then do check explicitly whether complimentary rice/naan is provided along with it.

Best restaurant for south Indian cuisines in Belfast.
We had veg momos, medu wada and mysore masala Dosa. All were delicious and the sambar and chutney were authentic.

My sister and I were looking at menus outside Botanic Avenue restaurants, decided to go into Bites Of India because we'd never tried dosa before. Very glad we did... Lamb dosa was massive but light and delicious, the dal accompaniment was spectacular and I would encourage you to save room for gulab jamun for dessert.
Great, fresh food, top service, good pricing. Will be back.

The best indian food in the whole Belfast.
Highly recommended
We were a group of six and each one ordered a different dish, all of them were top taste.
A must try.

Bites of India had been recommended to us by our son and his fiancee so we decided to give it a try on a quiet Monday evening. My wife had a mixed non veggie starter platter for two as her main course and I had a medium spicy lamb biryani. Staff were great, both meals were served fairly quickly and both were delicious. I haven't tried Dosas before and they look great so intend to return soon to try something different.

Best Indian food in the town! Highly recommend coming here everything from the food to the service was awesome. They had mild medium and spicy levels, they all turned out great and mouth watering!

One of the best Indian restaurants I have ever been to. I visited Kathmandu Kitchen twice during my stay in Belfast and I never felt disappointed. I was able to try a variety of dishes such as Momo, Naan, Himalayan Curry, Saag ra Paneer, Matter Paneer, Rogan Josh, Egg Fried Rice… everything tasted amazing. The staff was very accommodating as they made sure the dishes would fit our taste. Thank you for hosting us, I will never forget you!

Excellent little restaurant. Wife and I stopped in right after they opened. A bit of a chill on that December night, but the food and spices will warm your heart and body! Service was very good and the food was served hot and delivered in a timely fashion. First experience with Nepali based spices, found them to be quite good.

It's not fancy. The decor is Indian restaurant funk, which is fine by me. Family owned and operated, service reflects eager to please; no "attitude" here.
Of course the thing is the food...
Excellent, and especially good for reasonable prices and total lack of pretense. And they are able to interpret "medium" and "mild" for us pale Yankees.
With all the choices near our hotel, we stumbled into this on a Sunday afternoon, and it was so good that we returned for a late lunch the following day!
Good wines and the Coors-like Cobra on tap, which btw is a great match to Indian food, IMHO.
We may not visit Belfast again, but this little place will always be the Gold Standard for Indian chow.

Best Indian food in Belfast. Make sure you try the Jalfrezi chicken, it was one of my favourite dishes here. The staff was super friendly and we had a lovely conversation with them. Overall the food is top notch.

Love the food and the service was great too. The food was very authentic, spicy (just like we like it) and very tasty. Will recommend this place to everyone who is looking to lift their spirits on a rainy day in Belfast

This Indian restaurant in Belfast didn't have the run of the mill food we get in Essex.
Had different dishes which were delicious. If you're in Belfast, would highly recommend.

Really great place if you are in the mood for a spicey change to Irish fare.
Lovely, clean, modern and well lit establishment. Comfortable seating and a super friendly staff. The family are Nepalese in origin and offer speciality curries from their home and the usual options seen in Indian restaurants. I had the Special Kathmandu Curry my partner had the Himalayan Curry. Both were excellent. The portion sizes were very adequate. Our host confided that the Himalayan Curry is their best offering in his opinion!
Great, moderately priced, enjoyable evening.

Have eaten in Kathmandu Kitchen twice now and it is nice. Visually this is a dated restaurant and was chilly on my first visit but much warmer second time round. I found the food pleasant, but spice levels too high for my taste. Having tried mains of Chana Masala (chickpeas) and Vegetable Bhuna I found them much spicier than I would have preferred. These usually are mild to medium dishes and indeed were marked as medium spiced on the Kathmandu Kitchen menu - but they were fiery hot. Also, be careful when ordering, as the vegetarian dishes sometimes seem to contain paneer - so if you are vegan you will have to be aware of this and specify no paneer cheese. Complimentary poppadoms were a nice touch.

Best meal we have had in Ireland/northern Ireland! Would recommend to anyone and come often if we lived here! Ordered the chicken wing appetizer which came with four small wings, Himalayan curry and Balti.

What a wonderful experience at Kathmandu Kitchen! Excellent service! Our wait staff was able to guide us to superb selections that we thoroughly enjoyed.! The food is the best Himalayan/Nepalese I've ever had. Highly recommend visiting Kathmandu Kitchen if your in town and want a great tome with great food!

It could be a fairly alright 3 star on a good day but I opt for 2 stars. First we were crammed cheek by jowl into a window table for 2, so close to other diners that their conversations were audible without our having to work at it. The family to my left were critical of the food but told the waiters it was 'lovely' on the four occasions I heard them being asked. This also annoyed them.
There was also a dispute between them whether to go for a pint to 'Laverys' afterwards. The father clearly wanted to, his wife and daughter were lukewarm & hostile respectively and the son in law or potential in law was too polite to decline. So they unhappily agreed to disagree and went off two by two.
When the male waiters (no female wait staff) attended the tables either side of us their elbows were inches from the side of my head with their movements occasionally forcing me move sideways. One waiters' derrière was 2 inches from my butter chicken a few times. Hardly a romantic setting.
Once wedged in we got 2 'complimentary' pappadams with 3 dips. I asked for a Nepalese beer only to be told they don't have any so I ended up with an over-priced Singha beer, most likely brewed in Carlsberg's Russian plant that distributes to most of Europe. I imagine if these folk really are Nepalese they'd proudly flog their Khukuri beer and Hinwa and Dadaghare wines.
I got the small one at £3.5 which works out at £6 a pint. My wife got a mini bottle of white wine at £4.5 which is £18 a 75 ml bottle. The young waiter who said his only job was serving booze did suggest I'd be able to get some Nepalese beer in London, but I thought it was a tad far to go for a beer at 8pm on a Saturday night in Belfast.
It's a well overpriced place, with my paneer cheese starter at £6 when £4 would be fair. My butter chicken main was £13 when a fair price would be £11. They do that deception where meat is cut into cubes to give the impression of plenty, bulked out by copious cheap sauce.
The menus don't mention that chemical food colouring is used. I'm not a fan of these food colourings, so I'm disappointed when I see vividly red food being served up. I'm also peeved that the use of chemical colourings is not mentioned on the menu either.
My paneer starter had 5 pieces of almost tasteless cheese in a lightish batter, with a smidgen of hot sauce staining the plate, a morsel of lettuce, a sliver of carrot & a cucumber slice.
My butter chicken was near scarlet, packed with sugar, with small chunks of equally bright chemically red chicken. My wife had an overpriced chicken pakora starter (3 battered bits should be £2 cheaper) with a similar smear of hot sauce, morsels of carrot, lettuce & cucumber.
Her overpriced main (£17) was meant to be a sizzling dish but it wasn't. Not that we minded, as sizzling just means that the very hot iron plate on which the food sits is drizzled with cold cooking oil. Again this main was bulked out with lots of fried onions with some shards of green pepper made to look a generous portion, but there wouldn't have been £3 worth of meat on the plate. The boiled basmati rice was perfectly cooked, the small vegetable curry accompaniment was watery and lukewarm.
The nan bread isn't nan bread as it's too thin to be proper nan: so it it's a crisp bread, probably 20p to make the dough turning into a £2 price tag.
The service was effusive, nearly as sugary sweet and artificial as the butter chicken but when I know I'm being ripped off I don't tip. We'd paid handsomely for two 'free' pappadams with dips. We were asked at least three times about our food. I said read my review but I guess I wasn't understood.
We paid near £53 for a two course meal for two with a small drink each, so it was well overpriced once it went above £40. I suspect it's just another Pakistani restaurant which has come up with the wheeze of Nepalese cuisine and the ancient romantic Kathmandu as devices to overcharge and how. If this is dining in times of austerity I'd hate to see their price structure if we ever see good times. Back to M&S butter chicken - wonderful for a factory made meal and without artificial muck too.

Have visited here several times and always enjoy my dining experience. Excellent service always. The staff are very attentive and have great knowledge about the menu and always help by recommending if you aren't too sure.
We were dining with a young baby yesterday and lovely to be offered highchair without having to ask for it.
The toliets are clean and spacious.
I throughly enjoyed my meal!

We came, a party of 16 or so, and the wonderful (presumed) owner of the establishment took very good care of us. He was ever helpful, considerate, and attentive. Our food came in a timely manner and was all as ordered, hot, and delicious.
For myself particularly, I was immensely impressed at the care taken for my vegan diet. The owner not only modified a dish for me, but told me what not to get so as to avoid dairy. 5/5 in all categories.

The best meal in Belfast by far. Great food, great atmosphere and entertaining people. We were blown away by how efficient the staff were and the maitre d was exceptionally friendly. My partner described his meal as orgasmic and my tastebuds are very much in agreement. If, like us, you only visit one restaurant in Belfast, make it the Kathmandu Kitchen.

Went here twice during my 7 days in Belfast. Everything I tried was amazing. First time I went, we were a group of 4, I had the Nepalese Curry with chicken which was delicious. I also got to sample some of my friend's dish, he got the Himalayan Curry which was also delicious. The waiters asked our preference for spice level of the curry and really catered to our specifications. Rather just the mild, medium, or hot, we picked one of those and then we were able to specify how spicy within those options. I asked for spicy and then asked for a medium-high level, and it was perfect. My friend wanted his really spicy and he agreed that he got it exactly how he wanted it. The second time I got the Tikka Masala and it was one of the best dishes I've ever had, a much sweeter sauce then I usually think of but so so delicious. Wait staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Will definitely visit anytime I'm in Belfast and would recommend to anyone visiting.

Made a trip into town specifically to try this new Nepalese restaurant on Botanic. I'm a fan of Indian food, but I'm always looking for something different. Nepalese seemed interesting, so I thought I'd try it. 'Kathmandu Kitchen' occupies the premises that formerly housed the Quiznos sub shop on Botanic Avenue, handy for both the city centre and the University Quarter. The decor and ambience of the restaurant is pretty typical of any Indian, only they play Buddhist music rather than the usual Bollywood style.
The food was fantastic. A really good, original menu. It had all the usual Indian favourites, but for me the highlight was the extensive list of Nepalese dishes that you don't get in your normal high street curry house. There is also a large vegetarian menu. Both the starters and main courses we had were fantastic - the vegetarian 'Nepalese platter' on the starters menu was a highlight. For vegetarians, a lot of the curries include sheep's cheese which is a welcome change from the microwaved vegetables found in most places. We didn't have wine with our meal, but there seemed to be a good selection and the prices looked reasonable to me.
I was very pleased with my experience at 'Kathmandu Kitchen', it's the sort of place Belfast needs - something a bit different. It was also packed, which is good to see. The service was good, we never felt forgotten or ignored, and it wasn't rushed. I'll definitely be back.

Excellent service - Bishal (the owner's son) is well schooled in customer service - pleasant and professional demeanor.
The owner is delightful, very eager to help you find the perfect dish for you.
Food is delicious, we had both Nepalese and Indian dishes.
The best Indian food we have had in a long time. Very reasonable priced.

Great service couldn't do enough to make it a great dining experience. Food was excellent sides of pilau, nan were well above average and main course was lovely.

I have no photos because I already ate the food - it was amazing. If you like spicy, order the lamb vindaloo hot. Then get the Himalayan lamb. Lamb for all the things. The chicken is good, but the lamb is far far better. Tender and tasty.
