We are staying in Birchover over Christmas, booked last week for Saturday 23 December 2017 ... great info about dietary needs and wheelchair access requirements, all ready in place when we trundled in at 6pm, I felt really reassured about food, reception was great, beer fantastic GF, lovely wine, Sardinian! Porcetta was lovely and the orange GF pud was lovely/yummy... we really enjoyed the food and thoroughly recommend this lovely pub to everyone! Thank you to the lovely Sardinian chef for the great food, wine and beer and the staff too!

Loved the food, wine and staff. A special treat was the homemade cheese. The blue which we were able to buy & take home was delicious.

We were camping nearby so ate at the Red Lion for two nights. The food was fantastic especially on Saturday when we had an amazing chef's Sardinian style special. The staff are really friendly and they have a good choice of beers. It's also a good pub for drinks only as the restaurant area is separate. We'll be back.

Visit last night was very quiet with two other couples eating. Not a large menu but a good selection of pub favourites at a reasonable price. We went for a very tasty lambs liver, mustard mash and seasonal veg with gravy. Followed by sticky toffee pudding and homemade Bakewell tart with custard. They also brew their own beer on site and they allowed you to have a taster, settled on two pints of Bircher best. Best to book as during the summer both local pubs are well supported by locals and many tourists. Well recommended.

Dropped in for a Sunday lunch which happened to be a two meat carvery. We also opted for the burrata starter. All of the food was outstanding and great value for money. Homely atmosphere and dog friendly too.

Lovely little pub down the road from a great campsite, barnfarm. The staff here are very helpful (thanks Josh), although they were very busy they managed to fit us in and get us two fantastic meals out. I had the trio of pork, three little pigs. The food was amazing, in fact really high standard, was not expecting it from a small local pub. Katie had the warm pork pie which was "yummy". Would definitely go back, would advise others to book in advance.

What an amazing little gem in the heart of Derbyshire. The service was good and offers locally brewed beers and as a non beer lover I would say it is worth the try to see of you like it (ask var staff for a sample). I have attached some pictures of this beautiful setting. Book a table or get walk in service and has card pavement facilities. Family friendly, walker friendly and dog friendly. Perfect for a local walk and retreat to here on return. Add me on Instagram: diggerdazzler

Went in early, so not many customers. What a fantastic choice of drinks. Had a pint that can only be described as amazing, definitely not a session beer at nearly 7%. Would use this places regularly if wasn't so far away. Thank you

Pleasant pub with an interesting range of cask ales. Lovely log burner. Parking can be a bit of a problem.
