I was looking for a turkish, middle eastern cuisines and my search ended up with this place. I tried chicken shawarma and kofta wrap. Both are too good, loved the flavour and the taste of tahini sauce is too good, everything mixed with right proportion.
They serve the best coffee we have had in a while!

Mention Damascena and you will most likely get a hushed response like it is a dirty secret. It seems that despite numerous awards and a fair amount of press, some people would still have you believe that this is a hidden gem for only those in the know. It’s not. Everyone knows this is the place to come for the best m’tabal and shawarma, they just don’t want to talk about in case another hipster takes their place on the majlis to sup on chai. And who can blame them – I hate it when my favourite majlis is taken.
Friendly ambience and lovely middle eastern flavours. Delicious mezze - humous, babbaganoush, lots of dainty little bites. REally nice unusual blends of smoothies/drinks. Had ice rosewater and tamarind - very different and tasty. Smoothies with dates - rich and flavourful. Really beautifully made pastries/baklava too. Lots of pistaccio and cardomom flavour but not too greasy. Friendly service.
This place is fantastic. The people are great, that is, both the staff and the crowd. The food is awesome, had the Mixed Meze which satiated my cravings for Middle Eastern food, and the coffee was good. I would definitely go back next time I'm in the neighbourhood.
Nice place for a coffee. Only a few seats inside. But a great location. Excellent service. Sat outside with my kids and watched the world go by.
This restaurant gives a feel of a quite hide away when you enter its hidden eat in area at the back.
The soothing smell of fresh coffee hits you when you enter and a comforting feel welcomes you when you are seated in the restaurant, further in the building.
Service was amazing, food arrived in good time and was tasty.

It's an excellent place for breakfast. The food was cooked to high quality. Staff were friendly and welcoming. We liked the Fuul, juz.muz, and the mixed meze.
The coffee was also nice.
We did not like Ijjah Omelette. It was like an omelette cake, a bit thick and stiff. They missed a part of our order until we reminded them. It can be very busy and you may have to wait for a table. Parking is on the streets nearby.
Damascena really fits in Moseley with it's unique design. Its much bigger inside that you expect. The food is amazing, everything tastes fresh and just overall, a really nice atmosphere. Would highly recommend if you haven't been.

This is an absolute gem of an establishment. As a frequent visitor, I have never had a poor experience. The latest visit, on a rainy day, was welcomed - stepping inside out of the rain into the cafe where I was greeted by the smells of warming cinnamon and strong coffee. Bliss!
The menu is extensive and the food items are absolutely delicious. Whether you are going for a brunch or a meal, there is plenty to choose from. The drinks menu is vast, and as all are so delicious it is hard to choose one item! Items on the menu are Syrian type cuisine and drinks, but they also serve items from Turkey, Lebanon, Persia, and other Middle-Eastern areas. The atmosphere is wonderful in there.
The staff are friendly and welcoming and provide very good service. All food is Halal, and for non-meat eaters there are plenty of vegetarian and some vegan options available.
Just be mindful you can struggle to find a table if visiting off the fly, so if going for lunch or brunch, I recommend you call and reserve a table.
They also offer take-away service, their falafel are a favourite with my family. Their sweets and baklava are also delicious. Be sure to order a box to take home!

Illyas the waiter in particular was absolutely amazing! From his friendly nature, bubble personality & delightful food recommendations! The food in itself was amazing but he was the cherry on top of the cake! Making the overall experience that much better! He deserved a raise!

Hidden little Gem that has plenty of hidden rooms inside and an outdoor area. It felt like I was abroad. Food was nice and fresh but in tiny portions especially the pomegranate salad otherwise lovely.
Great little place tucked away in mosely. Decor is great. Staff are friendly and attentative. We ordered a few drinks and desert and they came very quickly. Would reccomend again! The coffee was great and so was the deserts.
