I went there a couple of times that I found myself looking for dinner at 9pm. Luckily their kitchen was open until quite late. The food was really good, the decoration was also nice. The staff were a bit rude both times I went there.

Our first time here yesterday, we came as recommended by friends. Our Hot Pot cost £18.99 per person which was really good. We were offered individual pots or big one in the middle to share and we loved the sharing one. We had half chicken soup and half spicy soup. All the plates, bowls, ladles, tongs, spoons were really clean. The decos and atmosphere were beautiful . Loved the Kois on the walls. We would come back again to try other dishes. One thing we weren’t told, was that sliced meat were in the freezer by the door. We thought it was ice cream freezer, so we had lots of seafood with no meat. Prawns were really fresh and tasty. Lots of sauces to choose from. Thank you for the lovely meal.

We left New Street station keen to head into Chinatown, and I really wanted to taste something new. We were struck by the name "New Tasty", so I felt like we had to go in. They offer two menus - one more standard menu at a Chinese place and another "hot pot" menu. I'd never had a hot pot before, so I was thinking this was perfect! We didn't know what to get so my partner and I ended up getting the standard hot pot each. The broth that comes with the spicy option was particularly flavourful. It took a bit (and some googling) to figure out how I was meant to eat but I I got used to it and I thought it was great! The food was so flavourful and there were so many seafood options to choose from. There were some thin meats also, and a host of traditional vegetables and noodles. The restaurant can easily be missed - although lit up it is sandwiched next to other options on the side road by New Street. But once inside, I found the decor to be wonderfully decorated with little gems everywhere, coy fish seemingly swimming up one world, goose statuettes above the drinks selection to the Chinese lanterns on the ceilings. As the tables have to be sturdy to cook the hot pots, they were a good size but also sleek and stylish. There is a soft melodious tune that plays in the background, which is just perfect to stop and enjoy the food. It was more of a experience really, I loved it. We would definitely come again.

The place is a hidden gem, offering all you can eat hot pot for £20.99. Plus, it's right outside the New Street Station / Grand Central mall. Unlike other places, there's no minium people that needs to be present to be eligible for the all you can eat. Also there's a good variety of sea food in addition to the tradition beef and lamb rolls. However, the place is lacking in the sauce department. Nevertheless, the service is great.

10/10 stars here! As a south east asian, I have been missing THE authentic Szechuan hotpot since I moved to England. Thank goodness I checked this place on my work trip to Birmingham. THE best Szechuan spicy mala hotpot I have ever had in the UK! Plus only £22 for the whole pot! I am a small eater + solo traveller so it’s enough for 2 meals for me. You can also choose 8 ingredients (quality is top notch), all inclusive in £22. How amazing that is! I am a fan of spicy food, so I chose Medium degree and it’s just the right one for me (I am a Nando’s XX Vusa Hot person for reference). P.S. Excuse my photo, I literally only realised I should take a photo at half point! So you can see the portion size! Highly recommended place!!!

After a long 6 hour trip on the coach to Birmingham. My friend and I decided we fancied some Chinese food. It was late so many places were closing and didn’t want to travel far as we were travelling all day. We Decided to come here. The staff were nice and took our order swiftly. The food was lovely and came quick. They have one of the best Satay Sauces I’ve ever had.

Bit or a delay with getting my order but the food was certainly worth waiting for. Steaming hot mains and sides with great portions too. Will definitely be ordering again.

Edited: Recommend going in the evening as during the day they seem to have less skilled chefs working and the usual dishes we like to order are a little different to how we like them. My absolute favourite authentic Chinese restaurant in the UK! A proper hidden gem of Birmingham. The authenticity does mean yes, you might have to put up with Eastern rather than Western service, but the food is worth it, and the star of the show. Go there with that in mind and it's hard to be disappointed. Portions are huge, relatively consistent, great variety of ingredients and whenever if I have the 'same' dishes elsewhere I always end up saying "Not as good as Tasty Restaurant"! Top tips: - Bring cash - yes it's mildy annoying, but there's ATMs at the station opposite and the signs are clear. - Be aware there are 2 menus for English and Chinese diners, like all very good authentic restaurants in UK/US/Aus/Canada. The Chinese menu is more adventurous has photos and absolutely worth trying. - Largely used to catering to East and South East Asians, so don't take the service personally - it's cultural! - Salted egg yolk pumpkin, water-boiled fish/fish boiled in spicy chillies, stuffed aubergines, spicy lamb leg, cold mung bean noodles, fragrant spicy crab, even frogs legs. Not all Sichuan spicy but mostly! I dream about these when not in Birmingham.

Lush food and fab attentive service. Had set menu B and enjoyed every bite. Fab portion size divided between 3, but would have been ample for 4. Also fab waitress who dealt brilliantly with out splitting the bill and business receipts requests.
