The Croft Restaurant

Lovely full English breakfast with meaty sausages and back bacon. Service was a bit slow and the food a bit pricey (compared with the Riverside Cafe nearby for example). It wasn't until we got outside that we realised a 10% service charge had automatically been added to the bill. It's written in very small print on the receipt and I don't recall this being stated on the menu, so watch out! There is just one very small, cold ladies toilet outside at the end of the garden, so when it's raining you have to stand outside and get wet while waiting for the toilet to become available if there's someone in there (which is what happened to me!).

Absolutely fantastic food and a lovely atmosphere in a fabulous location. The service was fairly prompt and courteous although the staff did seem rather frazzled and could have been a bit friendlier. One staff member committed my biggest pet peeve of presenting the bill and card machine to my husband even though it was me that had asked for the bill and had my wallet out. Perhaps just a mistake, but it happens so regularly I suspect unconscious sexism.

We went as a family party of 6 on a nice Sunday afternoon, and we were seated very quickly by the staff. The staff were very friendly and helpful with food selections. Drinks came promptly, followed by food. Everyone in our party enjoyed all the food very much. I had a lovely vegan and gluten free burger, which is a rare treat, particularly as the bread was really nice, not dry like many GF bread options. The chunky chips were perfect too. The prices were very reasonable too, considering none of us left hungry. Full points all around. I'll definitely be visiting again next time I'm in the area.

We came on a pretty busy Sunday in February and though we prebooked it still was a slight wait to actually be seated. The servers were nice though they were quite busy so took a little bit to order, get our food, and then to pay. The food itself was quite good and they had a few vegetarian options. There is also both indoor and outdoor seating available.

This place was amazing, very dog friendly I had a kids meal as I didn’t fancy anything big and the staff were happy to let me order from the kids menu which is appreciated and it didn’t disappoint! My dog was loved by the staff and locals and she seemed to enjoy it too. We will be back. My hubby order a burger meal which was juicy also. They didn’t have Stella larger so we ordered house beer and it was nice.
