Cracking pub! Friendly, welcoming team, excellent proper pub food, wide choice of drinks (including the best pint of Guiness in these parts, according to husband), brilliant vinyl collection and visiting DJs, large sun terrace and just a downright fabulous atmosphere!

While they might still bill themselves as a backstreet pub, the current team are putting The windmill on the map and making sure Brightonians take a very necessary diversion here. Their current popularity can be somewhat connected to the very hyped kitchen run by Albertas Food. The cuisine is billed as ‘Hot Sandos’ and combines Japanese and Italian-American cuisine in the format of sub rolls filled with a tempting combination of fillings. It was really great to see a row of craft taps on the back wall as well as the typical mainstream options. A really enthusiastic and chatty barman did a great job at drawing my attention to the taps. The Windmill Brighton serve a really good and reasonably priced Negroni and also Margaritas on tap. From the social media posts music is a big part of the pub's character, and they are the only place I know who book live Daytime DJs to entertain on Saturday and Sunday afternoons. A lovely pub with a warm fire that was very welcome on a cold afternoon. The chicken and waffles were delicious, the service friendly and the overall vibe was cool and relaxed. Already planning a return visit.

This old classic has turned back to a new favourite, especially since Alberta kitchen took over. Delicious chicken sandos and bites, excellent value for money 👌

Absolutely love this place. The food is crazy good, and I'm just glad more people don't know about it. I recommend both the roast and week day food! Beer is really good too, and so glad they have decent cask on tap. Music is great, and the service is really nice. I ended up chatting to the bar tender every time I went up (moustache guy). Go for the food and beer, and enjoy the service and atmosphere

Delicious food in a nice cozy little pub. A very inviting atmosphere. Have been here before for the chicken roast (also great) but went for the new £15 sandwich and fries deal. It came out pretty fast considering it was quite busy and tasted great. Nice crispy chicken. The dips were top notch as well.

Having popped into this pub a few weeks ago and seeing the food leaving the kitchen, I made the visit to try their highly-rated fully fry chicken. I would recommend pre-booking, but I was not disappointed! And the roast potatoes are on another level. Words will not do this justice, get down there and give it ago.

Always a wonderful pub, but even better now that I have an excuse to go and eat there all the time. The Alberta's x The Windmill permanent residence is probably one of the best things to happen this year. Wednesday Wings? Oyster Happy Hour? It helps that everything is absolutely delicious. I look forward to spending all of my money here.

BEST SANDWICH I HAVE EVER HAD!! The windmill used to be our old stomping ground, but it used to be a run down, average pub. We walked past it the other day, seeing it had been done up so we decided to give it a go and have a bite to eat. The Sandos were absolutely amazing, to die for! As I was eating it, I was already trying to plan another trip to Brighton to eat this delicious sandwich again. It's packed full of flavour, with fresh mint and rocket, made with homemade buns and the fries are unbelievable, so crispy and delicious! Paired with the best alcohol free beer, it was an incredible experience. We can't wait to come back!

My new favourite pub! Currently being refurbished inside & out. Now with great local beers and a new Toads table. The first Sunday lunch today by Alberta’s was next level!
