Fantastic food, caring service and great desserts. You can never go wrong with this place. My partner and I go there every time we’re in Brighton. Highly recommend the scallops and the Pannacotta. We always try to get a table with the waitress that speaks a little bit of French as she is the loveliest.
Great food and great service. We had the hot platter and we were stuffed. Would recommend to anyone visiting and will definitely be going back on our next visit.

Brightons iconic fish restaurant English's is an institution and the food is delicious. I had the fish pie which was divine, beautifully presented, full of fish and flavour. Our group also thoroughly enjoyed the seabass and classic fish and chips. A must go destination for seafood and champagne.
Can't believe we haven't tried here all these years. Freshly cooked seafood, great quality and choices, prices are high end but worth it. Our server today, he was very polite and professional, made our dinning experience perfect. Highly recommended and will visit again.
Best seafood in Brighton!! I was blown away by the flavours coming from the seafood platter, the chef has done an incredible job at mixing simplicity with a bit of culinary genius to make some really exciting flavours. My personal favourite was the crab pot and the croquettes. The oysters were as fresh as you could ever wish for and the thick chocolate chunks in the brownie were to die for! I can't say enough about how friendly and helpful the staff were! A big thank you to Jonathan, Erik, and Ella for going above and beyond for our table and making this a very special evening 🥂 10/10 will be coming back soon!
I recently dined at English’s of Brighton, located in the heart of the town center. While they don't offer on-site parking, there are convenient car parks nearby. The variety of starters, mains, and desserts impressed me, and the flavors lived up to expectations. The dishes were served promptly, and even on a Sunday, finding a table was a breeze. The reasonable prices and friendly service added to the overall positive experience.
I must mention that the mussels dish I ordered was incredibly tasty. The succulent flavors of the mussels added an extra dimension to my dining experience at English’s of Brighton.
In addition to the diverse à la carte menu, English’s of Brighton also offers a convenient 3-course set menu. This option adds even more value to the dining experience, providing a well-rounded selection for those looking to explore various flavors and indulge in a complete meal.
We were greeted by a very polite man who actually spoke to us like human beings it was quite unusual in Brighton.
We were then seated in a mirrored room by a very polite man then handed over to a nice lady.
We went for the fixed summer menu and had calamari to start with then I had steak and my partner had moules. The food was exceptional and the service was great too. We also had a dessert.
I would definitely recommend this place to anyone visiting or living (like ourselves) in Brighton.
Very enjoyable lunch here. I had the set lunch, which was excellent value and very tasty. I loved the setting; old fashioned and elegant. Service was friendly and timing good. Fish and chips was as good as I hoped from a specialist fish restaurant. The pear eau de vie was a lovely touch.
My favourite place in the UK to visit for beautifully cooked fish. Worth a trip down to Brighton just for the experience.
Somehow the chef manages to grill the Dover sole and plaice better than anywhere else. Both were absolutely wonderful. As were the enormous scallops. The side dishes are also very good. The staff are warm and friendly and make you feel welcome. We were served by a charming waitress. In my opinion the puddings are not up to the standard of the fish: one had too much balsamic vinegar splashed over it. Nevertheless, I still give it 5 stars and eagerly look forward to my next visit.
Lovely dinner here. The bill was just under £200 with 3 courses, bottle of wine and 2 glasses sparkling wine.
The waitress was lovely and attentive. Only let down was the chocolate fondant, it was rock hard and when I asked the waitress if this is what it is supposed to be like, she said no and quickly got me a new one. This makes me wonder if they make their deserts are fresh or if it is frozen and cooked when ordered.
The starters and main courses were faultless.
