Lovely place, great interior and exterior, long que for drinks but the bar staff are great and friendly. Huge outside area, well lit and colourful with a good atmosphere and buzz.
We popped in for drinks and sat outside at the rear in the large open area. We got the last of the afternoon sunshine but it would also be a good place to sit at anytime as there are a number of covered areas if you'd prefer them. I know of another pub in my local area which has copied this outside concept and I can't say that I blame them. The atmosphere is good with all of the people enjoying themselves, there's music too and some interesting language scrawled on the flower pot ash trays on the tables!
Drinks are standard Brighton prices although, unusually, they only serve wine in 175ml measures, not 250ml.
It's a cool and cosy place with the garden.
The bar offers a big space both indoor and outdoor. The beers offered variates from common classic pub beers and some other more interesting ones. The toilets are however in a very bad state and are really not cleaned.
Lovely beer garden. Great atmosphere. Children friendly. One thing that wasn't very nice was that a pipe from the men's toilets was flooding outside by the stairs, to the garden.
Didn't have food but the best garden is massive, service was amazing friendly staff and quick service good beer as well what more can be asked on a nice summers day. Highness recommended to anyone, anytime

The staff was nice and they were respecting the covid guidelines which made us feel safe! The beer garden is beautiful and one of the nicest in Brighton and Hove, with very pretty grafitti. Young crowd, very lively even on a monday eve. Drinks are expensive ish but they do student discount which is such a plus. I love this place! Only reason I gave 4 stars is because they used disposable plastic cups when they ran out of glasses .... I wish they had a more sustainable option!
Best beer Garden in Brighton!! - The Hobgoblin is a staple of Brighton life. It's a fantastic pub that's been around for so many years it feels like it's a part of Brighton's heritage. The Beer Garden at the back of the pub is exceptional, extremely Large, fully covered (for those raining drinking sessions) and, in my humble opinion, very well laid out. The staff are always friendly and professional and the pub always partakes in festivities and seasonal events. Drinks prices are average and they often have live music. It's a cornerstone of pub culture and I cannot fault them on anything. Their food is awesome too. well-priced and good quality.
If you are visiting Brighton, make time to have a pint at the Hobgoblin. You won't be dissapointed :)
Lovely pub, good priced drinks and good staff and nice beer garden
Well, if I wrote this review a year ago the score would be much lower. However with their completely new garden this place has improved significantly. They have a fully covered, fully heated smoking area with tonnes of seating. Staff are usually super friendly and they have a lot of GOOD student deals. Downsides: Toilets are horrible and the inside of the bar can smell very 'off-putting'. Otherwise I will certainly continue to come here.
