Our son Sean’s 30th birthday meal last night was fantastic the staff were brilliant very helpful and friendly we had a table for 10 the food came out all together so no one waiting everyone enjoyed the food and the whole evening. This is why we rate the Fox inn a 5 star and on s plus we will visit again soon.
Stayed here last night with my wife, I can honestly say I couldn’t fault it at all! The room here (room 6) is absolutely fantastic, with the comfiest bed you can imagine!
We ate dinner here last night, and breakfast again this morning as the food was again incredible!
Will definitely be staying here again! A little gem this place!
Kat and the team we’re all incredibly attentive throughout the stay and couldn’t work hard enough for you
Great venue, close to the heart of Bury St Edmunds, the Abbey Gardens and the Cathedral. We booked for a family lunch and felt bad that our guests were extremely late, due to traffic and also that an extra relative and a dog were joining them, but we were greeted in such a friendly way, and everything was "No Problem!"
It was warm and cosy, with ambience but not noisy, service was very quick, and the food was delicious. The menu is usual pub grub but with a few extra and interesting additions, and everyone enjoyed their meals.
The boss and I booked a table for Sunday lunch, we saw the pubs information on their website. I don't think the information really does justice to the meals and service on offer. I went for three courses, just to see what was on offer, boss went for starters and main. After eating in many of the places that offer Sunday lunch in the local area this is by far the best we have eaten in over the past twenty years or so. A special mention for leah who was our server. All our questions were answered, explanations given and a great sense of humour all afternoon. The management deserves a massive pat on the back they have got a perfect pub serving just what's needed. No faff just great food.
We did not use the hotel. This was a lunch time visit to the pub. They were most accommodating for our meeting. Afterwards 7 of us stayed for lunch all having different meals which we all enjoyed. We will certainly be returning.
My daughter booked a room for the evening before her wedding ceremony at the Bury St Edmunds register office.
The staff were lovely and we needed to stay past our departure time by 20 minutes and we asked the lovely guy in charge , his name was Rashan and he was so accomidating. He even chatted with my daughter and myself the night before about her dress and the reception.
we went back to The Fox for drinks after the wedding ceremony and had a room for all the guest's.
The staff were wonderful throughout and very efficient. I would recommend The Fox for its lovely people and excellent rooms.
Beautiful pub and the service was fantastic, absolutely couldn't fault it. Myself and my partner went for a meal which was really tasty. We will definitely be back. Thank you to all the friendly staff!
We spent a couple of nights at the Fox when visiting Bury. The location and pub building are both excellent - as are the rooms. The pub itself is more focused on food rather than ale. We only had one small meal there which wasn’t anything to write home about.
Had a nice family lunch at The Fox inn.
We received a warm welcome were helped with my cousins wheelchair to our table.
We were promptly served with drinks and were given a little time to choose our meal from the menu. There were good options to suit everyone. When the food was served it was well presented and tasted delicious.
We all enjoyed our meal and had a comfortable chat before heading across the road to the palace gardens and Cathedral.
The Fox in were happy for us to leave our car in car park while we did so.
That was very helpful.
Thank you to everyone at the Fox Inn

While the staff are very friendly, the ales & drinks good, and the pub setting is lovely, unfortunately the food can be a bit disappointing. The crispy belly pork, while very tasty was not crispy and they still left the soggy/rotten outer leaves on the cabbage. The seafood risotto was very nice. Our lunchtime sandwich had very dry bread so they willingly swapped it for a very tasty ciabbatta.
We decided to go to The Fox, Bury st Edmunds last Sunday. First time I’ve been and it definitely won’t be the last. Sunday roast highly recommended, the staff were truly great and the homemade cheesecake was the best I have ever tasted! Thank you Fox and staff for great meal and excellent service, five stars xx
Popped by on a Saturday. We were able to get a table outside, and our dog was made a fuss of. The food was tasty, and the service was friendly. Will definitely return.
