I am a total bookworm. My mother in law showed me the bookstore/cafe I absolutely loved it. Such a lovely place the staff and people were very friendly. I wasted no time in exploring the bookstore And found everything easily. There is a wide variety and lots to choose from and the prices are really good. I will definitely be going back here. Really lovely place

Visited for the first time today on the recommendation from my daughter As we are both avid readers this was a great store to find I was able to complete some of my collections with books at a very low cost and came away with a full carry bag Enjoyed a coffee and cake in the coffee shop Would highly recommend a visit

What a great bookshop! Very reasonable prices too! Had all your usual categories and set out a bit like a library. Loved the kids/educational area. As well as books there were gifts and jewellery. Again not over the top prices. The toilets are fitted with a smaller toilet for the little one. Each one has its own theme. We arrived on spec just before closing at 5pm Sunday afternoon. The only reason we stopped as we saw the sign for a cafe. Hubby can have a coffee and I could have a browse. Unfortunately the girl at the counter was a bit unfriendly telling hubby that they're were all cleaned up and no longer serving in an abrupt manner. A smile and saying sorry would have been nicer. Despite this I definitely would come again and not before closing. Next time I'll have something to eat. The reviews are really positive.

Loved it! We went for a little break during our holidays and came back the next day for the breakfast as we were dying to try it. The hot chocolate is amazing and you can choose either white, milk or dark chocolate 💙 the breakfast was great too with good quality products and good portions. Load of books and cute gifts and top of the top, it’s dog friendly! I wish it was close to where we leave ☺️

I had a lovely time amidst the vast amount of books. Loads of choice and great prices. I also managed to get a good book from the local authors shelves. The kids section was well stocked with some toys and dress up too. There is also a great range of local artisan crafts, from jewellery, soaps/smellies, cards and other crafts. If I am ever back in the area I will definitely call back and try the cafe too, which was packed out during my visit!

High Peak Bookstore & Café, located at Brierlow Bar, just outside of Buxton. Lovely bookstore and lots of choice. Came across it during a little drive out but too late to get a coffee - note must get here earlier next time.

What a treasure! My cousin shared the site of this converted garage. Find a new author, find a new read, find unique cards, enjoy cake n coffee. Just off the A6 near Hartington we decided a homeward journey needed this stop. We arrived at a full car park speaking reams about what lay ahead. We arrived into rows n rows of books fiction and fact. What surprised me was the costs so very cheap. Wondering why I realised the authors were those who were not in the high rankings. No Stephen King for instance this may explain the costs of Dawn French novels at £2.99. We would love to have stayed for lunch but by midday the restaurant was full. Accepting defeat we oaud for our 10 books and left lifted in anticipation of the reads to come.

Lovely cafe, always a treat. We had to wait a few minutes to be seated as it was busy but there was a fab range of cakes and hot drinks. Nice relaxed atmosphere. Great for shopping for beautiful greetings cards too.

Such a lovely well situated bookshop/cafe with ample parking and nice friendly upbeat staff. Its always a busy spot and I can see why, I really enjoy taking a look round the store and usually pick up a book of a little treat for myself. We did have to queue to get a seat in the cafe but being typically British I didn't really mind because there is a happy bus and good vibe. The food and hot drinks were excellent I went for the pork pie trio it was top notch. Definatly worth a visit if your passing! Enjoy guys

A great place to go for a drink and a snack in the lovely cafe. As someone who loves physical books, they have a great selection with some really good bargains. They also have a selection of gifts that fit the gift/souvenir category and you'll find something for almost anyone.

We were driving past when I saw the sign for the bookstore and shrieked at my family member who was driving to turn around - I’m so glad we did! It’s a lovely independent bookstore with a few gems. The prices are excellent- approx £3-£5 for paperbacks, and £6-10 for hardbacks. From a look at their wares, they are getting older stock of books for a discounted rate and passing them on - which I have no complaints about, but you won’t find the latest bestseller here! (Though they can order them in for you). The fiction range is broadly unchallenging, a lot of cosy crime and romance, a small fantasy/sci fi section with mostly classics (when we visited), but you can find some lovely books and a few that are unexpected! Non fiction is particularly interesting. The cookbook range is great, the Social History section is a personal favourite but you’ll find something for everyone. The children’s section is lovely - it’s in a side room and has been thoughtfully designed to appeal to kids. Stock appears to change quickly - we came back two days after our first visit and found several new books. The staff are lovely - and don’t mind you browsing for as long as you want! There is a good selection of gifts/cards/local made crafts if you’re so inclined. On our second visit we stopped at the cafe, and were very impressed. There was a great range of soft drinks, a small alcoholic range and a lovely tea selection. They have clearly sourced carefully and everything was fantastic. I can thoroughly recommend the grilled oatcakes with cheese. My only negative is that I don’t live anywhere near here. Considering a trip back to the Peak District just for High Peak! It’s also dangerous to the wallet as I’ve bought approximately 15 books from there in two trips. Totally worth it.

Review update September 2023.... This place is still as good as it always was. !! What a treasure of a place this is. From the outside it looks like an industrial building, but don't be fooled, it's quite a gem inside.. Quite far from your old school dusty book room, this is a modern organised range of books. Easy to find as all sections have signs.. Most books are also below RRP. It also does lots of trinkets from candles to mugs. Lots of parking outside. Toilets available. Seating area. A cafe, with outside seating. The cafe itself is even worth a visit , and gets extremely busy with people queuing for a table. I can fully recommend the hot chocolate...
