This is my new favourite place to eat in Canterbury.
If you are after a great ramen, don't bother with Wagamamas because this is the place to go. The stock and use of authentic ingredients really sets it apart from the other restaurants and it tastes absolutely delicious.
The staff are also super friendly, especially the owner, David, who will make you feel right at home by recommending food and drink and is more than happy to chat with you.
I'd highly recommend the pork dumplings and the Miso chicken ramen.
I love this place, never a bad meal! Fresh food and good service. You must try
Absolutely recommend this place 100%!! The staff are very friendly and will help you with anything you need. They have a vegan and vegetarian option for most things. They did well with my egg allergy and made it easy for me to chose. The food is very delicious and I would go everyday if I could. It is very good for money. Cheaper than I expected!
Wow, this is definitely one of the best ramen in Kent. Tonkotsu with char sui pork is the best. Every other dishes were so delicious, and the service was excellent. We will go again. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
Wow wow wow!!!
My partner and I stopped for some Lunch and we were blown away with how tasty and authentic the food was. We had an array of different options from gyozas, boa buns, squid and kimchi. We also had the Ramen (Ying Yang with pork) and it was so delicious I couldn’t help but finish the whole bowl and drink all the broth, it was just so moreish and yummy. They use really fresh ingredients and it’s very consistent with all dishes!
Will definitely be coming back and 100% recommend anyone to come here and try this delicious food.
Amazing kitchen! Best sushi in Kent. The ramen is to die for. Thank you!
Lovely, very authentic Japanese food! I had a wonderful Friday night dinner here. Tried the large izakaya platter, omakase (chef's sushi selection), and gyudon (beef rice bowl).
The izakaya platter was delicious and I liked the selection of dishes. Especially the takoyaki (octopus balls) and yakitori (chicken skewers) were phenomenal!
The sushi was also a very pleasant surprise - everything was delicious and fresh, and the rice was just right. I loved the omakase and honestly it's so much better than Mr Miyagi's, where majority of the omakase pieces were just salmon.
I'm a big fan of gyudon and love preparing it at home, so had to try Happy Samurai's gyudon too - it was great! The flavour was very authentic, and while I was too full to empty my bowl, the beef was so delicious I ate it all and only left the rice.
As for their drinks menu, I think it has a really great variety of soft drinks (really enjoyed the ice milk tea, and peach fruit soda). Although I really wish they added Calpis soda to it! It's my favourite Japanese soda and definitely prefer it to the usual Ramune.
I felt the menu is very appropriately priced - the food is so amazing, it's authentic and presented well, and service is fast and friendly. I had ordered takeaway ramen from Happy Samurai once and really enjoyed it, but never sampled the other menu items or dined in until now. I'm so glad I did!! I will definitely be coming back for more!
Nice little cool chinese restaurant serving good food in a popular environment in the heart of Canterbury City.
I think this place gets quite busy as is the popularity of it.
The food I had which was the Katsu Chicken Curry and Octopus balls was absolutely delicious. My wife had the Shrimp Katsu Curry which was also very nice.
For light refreshments I had the 330ml Asahi beer which was £4.30? And my wife had a cheap bottle of Red Wine which cost £22.
Obviously being in the centre of Canterbury city there is no parking but there is parking within 5 minutes or just take the park and ride from Sturry or Wincheap.
The people are really nice and the food is phenomenal. Inside can be a bit stuffy sometimes during the spring but it’s usually quite manageable during summertime. The food makes it totally worth it anyways :)
Food was delicious, with lots of choice. I had beef and onion bao buns and pork tonkotsu ramen. Other tables were having the sushi which looked really good, I will have to go back again to try it! The service was okay, the waitress couldn't answer some questions about the menu but was very friendly and the food came in good time. The atmosphere in the restaurant is amazing, very cozy and themed.
It's a nice place, very small but cosy. It has limited space so be sure to call ahead and book. The servers are lovely, the food can be abit of a wait because its always busy but its definitely worth the wait.
The Ramen is amazing, I recommend the ying yang and their sushi tastes fresh and delicious. I also recommend the hot house sake!
Cannot really fault them!
They have traditional tatami areas for larger groups, it gives it that authentic feel. Enjoy!
Great service, great ambience. The ramen broth could be a bit more robust though.
