We went to Coffee Barker twice during our two day break in Cardiff.
Coffee Barker is located in the Castle Arcade. The Castle Arcade is part of the three Grade II listed Victorian and Edwardian arcades in Cardiff. All of the arcades have some amazing original architectural features, which make the arcades quite special.
The interior of Coffee Barker was filled with low seating (armchairs and sofas) and (coffee) tables. This created a perfectly relaxed setting.
First time we ordered the Tuna Melt Paninis. They were presented with a good side salad portion. The Paninis were also fairly substantial. Served on a super soft panini roll, the tuna mix was nicely blended with mayonnaise, red onion, tomato and pepper. For me there was a little too much red onion as I have a low tolerance of onion but after the removal of some, it was delicious and cheesy. For drinks we had a cappuccino and a hot chocolate, which were both good.
On our second day we returned for brunch. We ordered Scrambled Egg with Chunky Toast. We chose to share a couple of sides of tomatoes and mushrooms too. The scrambled eggs were plentiful but could have been more moist than they were. I was glad of the wet that the tomato added.
Overall the breakfast was pleasant.

Lovely spot to relax in Cardiff. Great coffee. Lovely breakfast. I had scrambled eggs on rustic toast. There was as good range on the menu. Great atmosphere but by far the best part for me was the service. Lovely attentive staff. Nothing was too much trouble.

So I did not know about this place until recently.
I often come to Cardiff but on this occasion I was here for a coffee date.
On entering the staff were very welcoming and chatty. I ordered a coffee and paid by cash as I had the right change.
They only really like to accept card which is about of a ball ache if like me you prefer to use cash.
After chatting with the person I was meeting we decided to have food. The prices are very reasonable and I ordered jacket potato.
The food arrived in very impressive time, was very well presented and very hot. It taste absolutely delicious!
The place is very funky and the decor is really cool. I’ll be coming here again on my next trip over to Cardiff from Swansea.

Great coffee shop, quick service, fabulous coffee and the sausage and egg door step sandwich for breakfast was enough to keep me going all day. Would recommend.

Great atmosphere and a lovely place for a coffee or a drink. However the food was disappointing, we had the panini, it took 1/2 h to arrive and was quite plain.
Also, they do not serve breakfast from 12 despite it being written 13 on the menu. I would not consider the place for lunch.

Had some breakfast here whilst I was visiting Cardiff.
Really liked the coffee & avocado toast with chorizo (really proper bread). Coffee was also really good.
Only thing I was slight underwhelmed by the juices as they weren’t fresh juices.
Really nice staff though & great atmosphere.

Wonderfully aesthetic coffee shop/ brunch location. Great music and cozy vibes. Many vegan options available :)

Delicious breakfast, comes in very big portions so you get a lot for what you pay for. Very filling and tastes may vary, but overall, very delicious breakfast. Some of the hot drinks might not be as warm/hot but either way, very nice food!

Visited for breakfast and coffee which was lovely. Food choices were good and what I chose was delicious. The coffee is lovely, able to choose plant based options too. Overall, a very lovely visit, would happily recommend and visit again.

I wanted to leave immediately after extremely rude and bad service from one of the waitresses terrible service honestly the worst I've ever received in anywhere I've eaten can't get over how rude she was.......it's a shame because it looks to be a really cool place with a relaxed atmosphere but she ruined the experience.......will not return.....here's a tip.....if you're busy try asking the customer ( who for one you wouldn't have a job in the first place ) politely say I'll be with you in a few minutes and you will get back to them rather than saying " I don't know I'm too busy to talk " and walking straight off.....so rude.....anyone reading this I asked a question about something in the place that looked Victorian and asked what it was that was all. Also the table next to us found hair in their sandwich need I go on? I don't usually leave feedback or reviews on anything but today I've never felt like I wanted to leave an establishment so quickly in my life......I waited on tables before and that is not how you treat the paying customer ! Sort your staff out teach them some basic common manners and good service and also would it be too much to ask to teach them a little bit about the history of the building ?

Amazing place. The perfect place to stop and chill in Cardiff. Lovely warm and relaxing amazing cakes and yesterday had the scrambled eggs and smoked salmon. Wow. The best I’ve ever had. Didn’t eat for the rest of the day. Definitely our favourite place to eat and chill in Cardiff

If you're only in Cardiff for a day and short of time then forget Cardiff Castle and Cardiff Bay, just visit this place! I highly recommend the smashed avacado & egg on toast and the caramel black tea.

So I waited in a long queue for soup, first of all. When I finally got served (about 10 minutes later), I ordered soup of the day and a pot of tea. Got my tea but had to leave to get back to work as half an hour later they still didn’t bring me my lunch. Not happy!

I’ve had afternoon tea a couple of times here and every time it’s been perfect. List of different teas and so much food on the plates, I always take some home. Very much worth the money. Best afternoon tea place ever!!

I had a birthday treat here last year and had the afternoon tea which I haven't stopped recommending and hinting at that I want to do again. I always worry that there won't be enough or it won't be that great but it was both plentiful and excellent quality. I loved that our teapot was topped up with more hot water which meant I could relax and enjoy it even longer. Everything from the surroundings, staff and atmosphere was perfect. Cannot wait to return and try more tea and of course food!

Stopped for a quick bite of lunch and chose the bloomer sandwiches. Huge doorstops were delivered packed with fresh and tasty ingredients but it was the bread itself that was the showstopper. Soft, fresh and delicious.
This really was the best sandwich I have ever bought!
Extremely tasty, extremely filling, great value all round.

We booked afternoon in the Angel Hotel 2 weeks ago but stopped in here first as it looked so inviting, the only thing I wished we'd had stayed here as our afternoon tea in the Angel Hotel was a lot to be desired, the tea & coffee was amazing and the shop was so chilled and cosy, can't wait to return.

Thank you so much for a fabulous afternoon tea today. I wanted to treat my mum after what has been a difficult week for her. Your friendly staff, lovely cafe and beautiful food really did the trick. This Tea House is a real little gem and I can't wait to return next time we come to Cardiff. The only disappointing thing I could find is that you haven't opened another cafe in Bristol !! Saying that if you did you would probably have to roll me out the door . Loved it. Thank you guys!! X

This was a 'find' in one of Cardiff's numerous Victorian arcades. Although as a tea room they don't officially do coffee lattes, they were able to provide all the necessary elements to produce a 'self made' gingerbread latte, which was perfectly acceptable. Their toasted teacakes were well made and tasty.
Decor was quaint and a bit quirky - lovely leather armchairs to relax in. All together a cosy atmosphere. Would visit again when i'm Cardiff.

Great food. Good drinks. Friendly and helpful staff. Comfy seats. Chilled atmosphere. A great find. Try the eggs Benedict. Do it.

Amazing, superb service food was outstanding and tea was delicious. I highly recommend barkers. Look forward to going back.

Barker's is a wonderful place, a step back in time, no rush, leisurely, quiet, so you can enjoy your Tea (Which is great). Also the quirky crockery which does not match and the seating helps put you at ease MY GO TO HAUNT. The doorstep Toast and Butter just to die for. A Marvellous oasis in a mad world.

Lovely quaint coffee shop. Sat in a big comfy chair and had filter coffee and cake which was gorgeous. Staff were lovely too!
