Overall, this little gem of Cardiff is a must visit for its amazing tasting food at a medium price range. Restaurant and layout: We were initially a little nervous passing through almost a little tunnel to the front door and inside the restaurant it certainly looked aged. The colours seemed a little worn from the long run of business and the tables very cosy; they weren't overly large. Others have complained it to be dirty but I didn't really notice obvious dirt to be honest. We didn't use the toilet so I cannot comment on this. Staff: It was quiet and staff greeted us as we walked through the door, several pairs of eyes looking to get us seated and comfortable. That's attentive service from the get go, and the standard didn't drop. We had plenty of time to decide on drinks before ordering them and some more time to discuss starters, courses and brief diverging subjects. We never felt rushed, And whenever we wanted something else a waiter was to our table within moments. They put a service charge of 10% on our bill but we planned to tip them anyway and still did; they are a credit to catering staff. Food: I know my indians, better than most white British and I always love to try something new off a speciality menu. Poppadoms were ordered with 3, aromatic dips and they lasted us even to accompany food. We ordered a perhaps too oily vegetarian starter and a beautifully made roll of minced mixed meats that had a little spice to warm the pallets. A main meal for each with sides came in fair time after, somewhere in the 20-30 minute range. There was just enough room on the table to fit every plate, and I have to say I tried each of my friends curries (with their permission) and each was unique and flavourful; Their tandoori chicken came beautifully seasoned and served hot, crackling on a hot plate; Their masala was different to what I'm used, but it had a not spicy hot mix of flavours; My dish was superb, aromatic and tender duckling pieces in a honey and lime lightly spiced curry was bursting with sweetness and flavour, beautifully complimented by pilau rice as recommended by the waiter when I asked him for good accompaniments. All food was served steaming hot. Final notes: If you don't ask you don't get Here beyond initially taking your order, the waiters are always on standby to take your requests and otherwise did not bother you so you can talk to friends, lovers etc. Great for dates when it's quiet and great for catchups when it's busy!
Great place, you need be book as it gets busy. Food was lovely. Gteat variety on the menu. Found mine to be a little too spicy but thats my own taste and not down to the food. Everything tasted very fresh and food was hot (temp) lovely atmosphere. Will be going back
Visited midweek and even though it was quiet still had a great time and the food was very good especially the Tarka Dhal which was incredible. Staff were friendly and attentive and overall would come back here if I was looking for a good curry in Cardiff
