Thank you to all the staff at the castle bar for making our wedding day special. The place was excellent, lovely setting. Staff were friendly and welcoming , food was amazing .
Couldn't have asked for a better place .

Absolutely gorgeous. Me and my friends came in last minute for food, we were seated by a lovely waitress who couldn't do enough for us. We all really enjoyed our meals. I ordered the surf and turf, the steak was perfectly cooked, it was delicious and locally sourced. Wonderful, thank you �
Friendly staff, friendly people, great beer garden, dog friendly, great selection of real ales on hand pull, reasonably priced drinks .... what's not to like about the place 👍
Clearly a very popular place with locals - in a town centre with plenty of choice - the Castle was handy for our hotel and offered a splendid range of drinks (especially ales) at reasonable prices. My abiding memory is sadly that of watching our Lionesses fall short on a Sunday morning, however!
Whent for sunday dinner and we were not disappointed food is out of this world. Probably one of the best sunday dinners I've had the place is amazing and full of history 5* all the way. If there was a down side is staff could do with being more attentive and we had to ask to get a drink order same with food and dessert.
Delicious food!! Make sure you're hungry when you come here, the portions are very filling! We wanted to try the desserts but had absolutely no room after our amazing homemade steak and ale pies. The filling of the pies was just divine, plenty of meat and delicious sauciness. Definitely recommend a meal here if you're in Cockermouth! Great selection of beers too, including local lake district options.
Lovely dog friendly English pub with three tiered beer garden. Good selection of drinks at good prices. Would recommend a visit.
Very friendly pub (and very dog friendly), superb selection of real ales in perfect condition, also a good selection of keg beers too. One of the top places on my list of great pubs in West Cumbria. A proper ale house.
We had Sunday lunch here & we were pleasantly surprised. The meal was very good VFM & the staff were friendly and helpful. We would return if in the area.

A good selection of drinks for everyone and lots of indoor and outdoor seating. Some of the tables outside are a bit close together for when it’s busy!
Amazing service and the meal was so tasty!! If I lived in the area I would be going everyday
