Castle Park in Colchester is a delightful escape into history and nature. This picturesque park seamlessly combines the charm of a historic castle with the serenity of lush greenery, making it a must-visit destination.
The star attraction, Colchester Castle, dominates the park's landscape with its Norman architecture and well-preserved interiors. History enthusiasts will appreciate the informative exhibits that detail the town's rich past, from Roman times to the present. The views from the castle's rooftop offer a breathtaking panorama of Colchester and its surroundings.
As you explore further into the park, you'll discover beautifully landscaped gardens, including a sensory garden and a picturesque pond. These areas provide a peaceful oasis for relaxation and picnics. The park's well-maintained paths are ideal for leisurely strolls

Had a nice tour of the castle which I wish was a bit more visual than informational but it was lovely and I learned a lot.
The castle is worth a visit and there's a lot of dress up and interaction So definitely a place for kids :).
The park is also a nice area for a walk and down time.

Lovely sunny day in April.
We parked in the car park at ten pin bowl Colchester and walked through the park and took some pictures along the way.
It’s a beautiful place to visit for a usual walk into the town.

Lovely park. Lots of facilities and a very nice cafe with tasty treats and delicious icecreams.
Resident and friendly cat and a playground and water feature. Also Roman remains, lots of benches, friendly squirrels and attractive views.
Experience slightly spoiled by irresponsible dog owners and heedless cyclists (who aren't even supposed to be there). I would understand their annoyance at being denied the park if it wasn't for the fact there's plenty of picturesque easily accessible uncultivated land and riverside walks right next to the park which allow both bikes and dogs. I might sound fussy but I hate to see dog owners not cleaning up their dog's mess in places where children play, it's selfish and irresponsible and is one of the reasons places like parks feel they have to ban dogs. Sadly you still get many owners who ignore the prohibition, along with deliberately ignoring the mess that their dogs leave behind.
Also, letting your dog off leash next to water fowl and allowing them to pester the birds during nesting season is very irresponsible. It endangers both the birds and the dogs, but several owners indulged in this.
