It was our first time visiting The Great Northern and it won't be the last. They have a wide ranging menu and the food is tasty. It is easy to get to and plenty of parking. I imagine it is a great place during the warmer months when you are able to sit outside.

After just having our wedding reception here yesterday, I couldn't have been happier with service provided. The staff were absolutely incredible and very understanding with last minute changes which they had no problems meeting to ensure we had the best time. All we received were compliments about how nice the buffet was and due to the length of time there, they were happy to bring the food out in 2 lots to make sure people didn't miss out if they came early or late. I'd absolutely recommend this venue for any kind of event because they really do go the extra mile for you. Our room was super spacious that we stayed in aswell and it was just an all around beautiful experience.

We love this place! It is exceptional in every aspect. Excellent service from everyone involved in your visit. The food is great and reasonably priced and the rooms are clean and comfortable. It all has a lovely ambience. Highly recommend.

Popped in for Sunday lunch on spec and they managed to fit us in, although I would suggest booking. The service was prompt and friendly. Roast pork dinner dinner was pretty good apart from very tough yorkies. It's not a carvery but none the worse for that and there is an extensive alternative menu. Would visit again.

This place is tastefully fitted out internally and externally.
The feeling of style can be appreciated immediately. I have not been in a nicer place since visiting Harry in Frogmore.
The outside seating, immediately behind the hotel, is great. There is a nice wedding guest area behind a private function room.
Why 4 stars after so much praise? IF YOU OWN A DOG, there is no internal space to warm you up on a cold day or winters night. The large garden area is great in the summer but on a cold winters day - no chance.
Sorry but you need to make one room dog and boot friendly.
