The Mallard Beefeater

Very quiet when we ate dinner (24/9/23). There were staff shortages, advised on arrival, but it didn't slow anything down. Bar staff great, food excellent. Both had fish & chips and we're happy with the meal. The fish was excellent with very crisp batter. Don't worry about portion size, it was well big enough.

I’ve been here 8 times now as part of visits with work and can honestly say it’s the only part of the trip I look forward to, the food is always good, they have a good selection of drinks especially whiskey however the staff are always a step beyond! The whole team has been great and every time I have left thinking positively of the staff! I specifically want to mention Kim who was kind, considerate, out going and friendly, shes someone I would trust to look after family well and a staff member that needs to be recognised!

The outside of the building really let's it down and to be honest without our discount voucher we would probably have not gone in after seeing the faded signs and peeling paint! Once inside it was really nice, staff were very polite and helpful. All of the food we had was really well cooked, tasty and we were even tempted for a dessert! Come on Beefeater get your painters to work and give the outside the facelift it needs. We will definitely be going again soon.

Popped in for tea as it’s next to the premier inn. Had a table booked in the restaurant but found one in the bar which suited our needs, there was no problem with releasing our restaurant table. One of our party had specific dietary needs which required some items on the menu tweaking, again, this was no trouble and we’d like to say a big thank you for this. The only criticism is there perhaps not enough staff to serve, run the restaurant and clear the tables. Tables went uncleared for a long time. But otherwise, good service and would return.

It's a nice pub, lovely and clean. Food was nice. My other half had the Chick & ribs and cleared his plate which meant he thoroughly enjoyed it. I had the BBQ mushroom tower which was huge. I wasn't all that keen on the sauce and mushroom combo though. In my opinion, as someone who loves cooking, an aioli sauce would be a far superior pairing. Otherwise, we were very happy with our visit.
