Nice pub this and it's cheaper than some in the area. It's got a nice warm atmosphere. Toilet is on the first floor. Great sports coverage, and great menu for hot food. Also outside seating if that's your thing. All in all a great pub. Staff friendly and polite.

Visited this pub on a quiet Tuesday lunchtime and it was really nice. A few couples here and there enjoying food. We opted for a booth and ordered a sharing platter at the bar when we got drinks - £12.49 where you pick 5 small plate items. The menu was like a Wetherspoons and quite cheap. Food arrived within maybe ten minutes and were larger portions than we had thought. Nachos and hunters loaded fries were lush, chicken pieces were a bit dry and the wings were well overdone. However, still edible and you can’t complain at how much they cost. My hubby had a pint of beer and I had a Coke, lovely and cold and I got them from the friendly lass at the bar. Plenty of seats, clean toilets upstairs and overall good experience. We will be back for sure. If you’re looking for somewhere cheap with plenty of choice, you can’t go past this place.
I had a simple meal here but I must say that I’m very impressed by the taste of the food I got. I was expecting just another “hyped up” restaurant but I was proven wrong. The ambience was nice and it was really warm inside.
My only critique is that the table wasn’t clean when I got there and I had to push aside the empty plates & cans in order to eat properly.
Nevertheless, I’ll definitely be going back to have a taste of the full menu.

Enjoyed every minute spent in this resto. Burger taste amazing, the chicken Escalope is super tender with great flavor
Had a lovely meal here with a group of friends. Jessica and nadene that served us were really friendly and made sure we had everything we needed and the food was lovely and reasonably priced. Will definitely return
Great pub to go in on match day. Incredible atmosphere. Prices not bad and they do student deals which are great
A truly "proper pub" in the centre of Durham, a city infested with expensive and pretentious hospitality sites. Would you pay £4.50 for a warm 330ml bottle of Peroni? Me, neither.
This isn't that kind of place.. A decent selection of cask ales at good prices, and a superb atmosphere. Scott the manager runs a good pub! He has some excellent, down-to-earth staff with a good sense of humour. Recommended!
Unreal food, really lovely staff! And very reasonably priced. We love it here!
Had breakfast here for three days in a row when we were visiting Durham. Full English for £6.95 . Two of everything so will will satisfy a big appetite.
Good range of beers and lagers at reasonable prices. We weren't here at night so we don't know how busy it gets.
Will return next time in Durham.
Friendly and polite staff and good food. Really enjoyed the visit.
