We've been here many times in the past year, it is always lovely to find something new on the hotplates, different salads, cakes, just about most things. Everyone here is always so polite and great attention to detail is paid, keeping everything clean and tidy and items well stocked. The prices are brilliant for what you get as well. We find the portion sizes are a little on the small side for us, so we buy a little more now, but everything is always tasty and good quality.

St. Wilfrids Cafe never fails to disappoint with a great selection of food for lunch and also great cakes, sandwiches etc for snacks at any time. Great atmosphere and always made to feel welcome.

I have to admit to being rather a squeamish soul who thought I was being taken to a depressing building. Not a bit of it,well light, cheerful colours and modern furniture turned my ideas upside down.Although most tables were in use it was not too noisy and service was efficient.

Always greeted with a smile. Although menu is limited But it is a cafe not a restaurant, very good quality and reasonably priced. Great place to network with colleagues, or just enjoy times with friends. Gardens are exceptional. This is a lovely community cafe with profits going to an excellent cause, give it a try.

We first discovered The Street cafe at St Wilfrid's Hospice nearly three years ago and have at times even enjoyed a quick and tasty Sunday Lunch there. Our current fondness for this estabishment is for their weekday salads and sandwiches. Their lunchtime opening times for the lunch food is sadly too short ~ really wishing they were available for a little longer (close up at 2 pm for the lunchtime food); but having said that, the range and variety of salads is immense. Each visit is therefore a treat; and great value at just £2.50 for a medium sized plate of salad. Protein foods are also available to add as an extra-over that to the feta or beans that usually come with the salad options ~ i.e. pots of grated cheese or tuna; a hard-boiled egg and so on. Balancing that praise with a couple of negatives : Sadly there are no small cups available to make an espresso coffee from their cafeteria machine; and we wonder about the possibility of reducing the use of some single use plastics in the wrappings/containers etc. The staff and volunteers are always very friendly and welcoming ~ and the gardens that are open to explore are a delight and a real tribute to the volunteer teams that maintain them. Parking can be a real issue, especially when a morning event is still ongoing or folk are arriving late in the lunchtime to prepare for an afternoon event.

Have been in twice this month with different friends. I enjoy going in here as although it is a hospice there is a positive atmosphere and you feel that you are contributing by spending your money there The service is excellent and friendly with lots of volunteers.

We visit this establishment most weeks. So am able to make a fair comment, as far as we are concerned we preferred the layout before the "new design". The coffee/ drinks are always of good quality but since the new layout we feel that the cake selection has not been so good. The quality is there but not the selection. The scones are the best for miles around and always a winner, especially the cheese ones!!! The place can get quite busy at times but there is generally a seat somewhere. There is a lovely atmosphere about the place despite some people saying they wouldn't go because of what it is. What a lot of nonsense! The lunches look delicious and all home cooked on the premises.Prices are realistic not like some places that charge the earth for not a lot. Nice way to donate to a very worthy charity as well.

What a day a SELECTION of Pasties...COR. Made by the talented on site kitchen staff, for anyone who doesn't know St Wilfrids have an excellent restaurant which is open to the public excellent food available cooked or salad. So please give it a go and money taken helps to fund the hospice so everybody wins.Sorry to go on a bit BUT I talk too much as well.

Small range of light lunches, salad bar, sandwiches and cakes to suit range of tastes accessed by a self service system. Operated by volunteers. Keenly priced. Clean, light and welcoming cafe. Not rushed and allowed time to sit and chat with friends. Well worth a visit and would recommend.

Had lunch in the cafe. Small selection of hot dishes and good salad bar, soup, sandwiches etc. Everything we had was really nice, macaroni cheese, salad and cakes all yummy. All the volunteers were lovely. Would defo go back if I was in the area. Also good to know the proceeds are going to an excellent cause.

We are always happy to come here for lunch even if shopping in Sainsburys we still come here as the food is so much better quality and the seating area is lovely, light, bright and welcoming and the artwork is worth a visit alone! There's a hospice shop which has some lovely bits and pieces too, when it's open. Have visited twice this month so far. Our first visit was on the 5th September and we had the roast beef lunch for the first time and it all looked beautiful but it wasn't such a good meal for us. We found the beef quite tough, the vegetables were very overdone and the roast potatoes were soft too - we guessed this was to make it easier to eat - the yorkshire pudding was perfect! We were surprised at the not so good bits as it's very unusual to find this, so I'm writing this as a little bit of contructive criticism as we know everything's usually very good. This week we had another lovely lunch - roast chicken which was lovely and moist, saute potatoes (again soft) lovely flavour, courgettes - which were also very soft but tasted lovely and red cabbage - really delicious, My husband also had a slice of the date and walnut cake which he said tasted very good but he found it drier than he expected it to be. The whole place is always kept extremely clean and you always find smiling people who are happy to assist with any help you might need. Tables are cleared up promptly. Will be back again soon :)

If you are shopping nearby, why not pop in to this wonderful place ,either for a cup of tea & cake or perhaps lunch all at a very reasonable cost.
