Chose this on a Friday night for dinner as other places on the street were more crowded, noisy. Cozy, quiet and elegant in decor and ambience, service quick and courteous. I had roast herb chicken on kale & mushrooms, which was absolutely delicious. Although I was alone, this is a very romantic place with low lights and candles. Price slightly higher than typical pub, but worth it!

If you are in Edinburgh Town centre and looking some where to have a drink with your dog this pub is dog friendly and helpful. We asked in a lot of pubs before finding this little diamond

7oz sirloin or rib-eye steak meal for two - Groupon Voucher - £19 Even without the voucher, we would have enjoyed this meal. Able to choose from any main on the menu and we're on a low carb diet, so fries & Onion rings became salad. So Mrs eLaReF had the burger (sans bun) Ordered the cheesecake as an extra which, along with the wine, you obvioulsy pay for

Fantastic food and excellent service. I went with my 3 year old nephew late one night and they were attentive and happy to provide him with a child's menu that is on the inside cover of a book - a clever idea! The presentation of the food was beautiful. Would highly recommend!

I came here for lunch as my first meal in the city. The atmosphere was brilliant-a nice cozy cottage feel (the music choice was also very good in my opinion). I ordered the pigeon as an appetizer and Shetland mussels as a main course. The mussels were very good but the pigeon was absolutely phenomenal. I had several ales from the Stewart brewing company (a local Edinburgh brewer). The ales were the best I've ever had (they have an enormous menu of beer and ales). I got the whisky and cheese platter after the meal-all very good as well. Overall this was one of the best dining experiences I've ever had. 5/5, 10/10, 100/100. Highly recommend.

Very friendly staff, very attentive, excellent food and drinks. The Sea bass was one of the best meals iv eaten in a long time,my wife also commented on how good the fish and chips were. Good choice of beers but at £5.20 a pint it seemed a little much. All in all though a great meal and drink.

Excellent haggis. Although the fish dish we had was not so tasty. Service was excellent and had one of the best real ales I've had. Rose and thistle.

I came to Edinburgh for the day and decided to grab a quick bite. The place is so welcoming, with fantastic staff, the food is out of this world. I'd make the travel from Newcastle everyday for this service! Will becoming a regular
