Our first dining experience in Scotland kicked off at Deacon Brodies Tavern, and it certainly left a lasting impression. Their hospitality was exceptional; they seated us by the window with a picturesque view of the Royal Mile, a thoughtful touch we didn't even request. We were particularly grateful for the care shown to our daughter, who has a nut allergy. The waitress handled her dietary needs with great attention, double-checking our orders to ensure her safety and enjoyment of the meal. Now, let's talk about the food. The seafood platter was a standout. It boasted impeccable freshness and flavor, and the seasoning was spot on. It easily ranks as one of the best meals we had during our visit to Scotland.

The food was really well and tasty. We ate there after the tour we had about Royal Mile, and the guide recommend that restaurant, because he said it was the best in that zone. When we arrive, the pub it was really full, but the restaurant is in the first floor. We went to the first floor, and they said they didn't have any table, and we need to wait about 45 minutes. We wait for our table, during this time, we were drinking a beer and water there. The personal of the pub, it was really nice. I can say the same from the people of the restaurant, they were really nice and very attentive during our lunch. After 20 minutes or less, they called us because they had a free table. Also, they recommend some dishes, we follow the waitress, and we took the dishes she said to us. All the dishes were very tasty. We loved it. I totally recommend that restaurant. If you one day you are visiting The Royal Mile and you want to eat very well, I recommend that restaurant.

First time trying Haggis and it tastes good here. The steak pie is recommended, I really like it. If you don't eat much, it's better to share with friends since you will get full eating these. We came during lunch time and waited for 1 hour until we got the table. So be careful with the timing when coming here.

Fish Pie for me and Steak and Ale Pie for hubs- we would both order same dishes again. The crust on Steak and Ale pie compares to dessert within the meal! Everything about our experience including a window seat upstairs made our afternoon! This was right after our day at Edinburgh Castle!! Pinch us, glorious day! Staff very friendly!!

They were out of sweet potato pie and mac & cheese. We got fish and chips and chicken schnitzel. My daughter did not like the schnitzel but I ate it. She liked the fish and chips. Halloumi fries were yummy she said. Bathrooms clean. Dining is upstairs. We arrived around 4 PM mid week and it wasn’t too crowded.

Situated at the heart of the royal mile this cosy tavern is full of history and warm hearted atmosphere. Often packed with locals and travellers alike. This place is a great lunch spot. Or simply a great place to rest your tired feet after a day pf exploring old town.

This was our first meal in Scotland, and the wait staff was super friendly and helpful in answering all of our questions. We ordered the Balmoral Chicken which was our first introduction to haggis as well as the Wild Boar and Chorizo Pie. Both of them were recommended by our waiter and neither of them disappointed.

Right on the Royal mile so it gets busy quick, we got there right when they opened and only to about 25 miles and they had a waiting list of about an hour. Definitely nice upstarts but the bar downstairs is cute too.

We had a great dinner when visiting Edinburgh. I loved that we were able to get seated quickly with us being a party of 6. The food was great and came out quick. I highly recommend ordering the Stovie and the desserts were great too! Service was excellent and the cost was reasonable.
