Lovely little deli for brunch. Looks quite small but there is quite a lot of space to eat in the back. Staff were lovely. Throughly enjoyed the food. Would highly recommend for anyone wanting some tasty food at pretty reasonable prices.
Great little find. Off the main road and won't even have noticed! But glad I did. It's a small deli as well as a bistro-cafe. Everything is made fresh. Ordered the panfried chorizo and mushrooms, toasted sourdough and poached eggs. Delicious! Will remember this place for future brunch!
Fab place for brunch/lunch: with a really nice selection of sandwiches and salads, with some delicious looking tortillas, crepes and tarts, and an amazing breakfast menu, there's something to suit all dietary requirements, plenty seating, this place is well worth a visit if you are looking for a nice lunch in town.
Sets the Standard. About half way down Broughton Street is this compact deli / cafe. It's based in a classic Georgian building with it's huge windows, high ceilings and original wooden floors. The clean, simple interior and whitewashed walls mean it's bright and airy and the menus are written on blackboards behind the counter. It's a busy place and I managed to get a table across from the counter. I plumped for a latte and the first slice from a freshly prepared ginger, coconut and plum sponge. Both were delightful and couldn't be faulted. All the items behind the counter looked tempting and I look forward to trying them in the future.
If you want a non pretentious and tasty breakfast or brunch in Edinburgh you have to go to Broughton Delicatessen. A deli serving all day brunch simple but well executed food, definitely my kind of place...
On a recent short break to Edinburgh, Broughton Deli was our favourite place to go to for breakfast, it was just a short stroll from our hotel. As you enter, the deli greets you with tempting pastries and a vast range of deli items, to make the delicious sounding sandwiches listed above the counter. The staff were busy at all times while we there, making up takeaway orders and serving in the café to the rear, but they were always polite and friendly. The café has got an eclectic mix of tables and chairs, which kind of adds to its charm. The paper lanterns hanging from the ceiling and the wildlife prints on the walls also added character. The tomato sauce also came in a large plastic tomato container, haven't seem them for years! A decent range of conventional and more exotic dishes on the menu, between us over the two days we had the porridge, a big wholesome portion with fruit and nuts; pancakes with lashings of maple syrup and smoky Carluke Bacon and a bacon sandwich large enough to save half for our train journey home! All mightily impressive dishes but the pick of them was the wild mushrooms and scrambled eggs on Sourdough toast, one of the finest breakfast dishes I've had for some time. Sadly, we've not sampled the lunch menu yet, but we are returning to Edinburgh soon and Broughton Deli will definitely be one of our first stops
Very good deli! I met up with a friend there one week day late afternoon and the place was very quiet, which we enjoyed. I loved the sandwich I ordered and the service was nice!
Broughton delicatessen is The deli place to go to!!!! Utterly by far the best fresh home made deli food served in whole of New and Old Town.
Been here so so many times and have ordered a wide range from the menu. Breakfast is exceptional no matter what you choose. Their porridge is done with large jumbo oats, berries and nuts. Extremely good!
The pancakes are done fresh by the counter with the batter poured onto a hot plate cooker thing with butter. Mmmmm!
The choice of salad, teas, coffee, panini makes this place the top deli for me. They do these awesome oatcakes which are sometimes for sale. If you see them, buy them!!!! They're by far THE best oatcakes I've, we've, ever taken. Unbelievable!
This is quite an underrated cafe in Edinburgh. They've got a huge tea selection, fresh salads, good breads, crepes and even ramens. Their morning porridge is incredibly generous, topped with lots of fresh fruits. It's casual and relaxed and I strongly recommend it.
Quirky cafe. DELICIOUS food with plenty of brunch options. You can taste the freshness of the herbs and veggies they use. A nice level of self-service that suits impatient people like me. Awesome altogether!
Breakfast was a work of art,...so much so, I had to take a photo! Beautifully conceived and designed, I momentarily regretted digging in as it meant destroying it...but was soooo tasty! Jon from Rhode Island, USA. Photo ~ July 19, 2018.
Nice location, food was very good. The pancakes were very tasty :) Fast service, we were at 8am on place, served at 8am.
Very simple place, but excellent breakfast and big portion.
Our expectations were pretty high, the atmosphere was great, staff was friendly, the food arrived a bit slowly and it was good but not exceptional.
Super tasty food with good veggie option. Attention to the frenchies: they are selling a croque monsieur with raclette cheese, just amazing.
I visit to have breakfast. Taste is reallt delicious. Staffs are really kind. Atmosphere is very cosy. I recommend to visit here :)
Good coffee and the best Avocado on toast I've ever had. Top pancakes too.
Another favourite local of mine, especially for brunch. The breakfast menu is just too exciting to read (special mention to the pancakes and smoothies) and the portions are spectacular, really good value for money. The lunch options are really tasty with veggie, vegan and gluten free options, you can get wraps, soups and mix things with the salad bar. There's also a great selection of homemade cakes and pastries. Really like the decoration, a quirky mix of furniture that gives a farmhouse vibe. At peak times, the sitting area can be full but you can always take away.
Love this place! I've gone multiple times and they have many healthy options like yummy salads and crepes including vegetarian options. There's enough seating depending on when you go but it's a quite popular for lunch so recommend going early or outwidth the busy times. Staff and service are friendly enough. Atmosphere is relaxed and sunny.
