What a fantastic addition to the food scene in Leith! Unusual cakes (the gooseberry and elderflower looked stunning); the raspberry and strawberry tart features a touch of lovage, and the brownie is the gooeyist indulgence. I had the rhubarb choux that was perfect - crisp bun filled with rhubarb cream that erred on the side of soft. Cheeses includes Errington's Lancelot served with three different types of cracker. I settled for the lobster roll that was moist, full of flavour and gone in the blink of an eye.
Coffee is supplied by Williams and Johnson from just up the road. Apple juice is juiced in-house and Mungoswells flour is used for the breads. Well worth a visit. Oh and it's run by the guys from Gardener's Cottage.
Great produce and attention to detail = some great food. Liked that they also warmed up the tea/Coffee cups (could be larger) as often coffee can arrive tepid. Nice simple but creative menu and prices are ok- expected worse for that end of Leith. You also get a wee discount if local which is a nice touch. Looking forward to the evening sharing platters with a bottle of wine. Not bad for us vegetarians as well and I sense they like to be creative and mix it up a bit. Well worth a try.
Love the fresh, hearty salads. An array of baguettes and pastries/desserts to sit in or take away. Great place for having an afternoon or early evening drink with a selection of wines. You can also buy fresh breads, vegetables and fruit! Friendly service too. Only improvement would be the menu including more veggies options!
Fantastic food, great coffee and friendly staff.
The best coffee on the Shore. I'm in there every day and the staff are warm and friendly. The decor is minimalist and cool with produce and high-end ingredients on show. The bakery offers fresh baked bread and there's fruit and veg sold outside. I recommend the malted sourdough and the rye brownies.

I have just celebrated my special birthday at Quays Commons and to say it was outstanding is to put it mildly. From start to finish my event went smoothly and the setting was just perfect. My menu was consisted of freshly prepared meats, beautiful cheeses, wonderful salads, delicious home made pies, chutneys, fish pates and freshly baked sour dough bread and crackers, almost forgot delicious Cullen Skink!. Everyone commented on how wonderful the food was and that they had never experienced anything quite so good at a party. A fine selection of wines, beers and gins were available for guests to purchase along with the option of purchasing wine from the beautiful display within the restaurant. We had a record player and had a nice selection of records from my era which worked brilliantly. The staff are wonderful and the manageress Jackie looked after us so well throughout the night. I had a chocolate mocha birthday cake that was delicious too.
A brilliant evening was had by all and thank you for making my birthday so special.

Had lunch with the missus. Excellent coffee from hyper-local roasters and great starter of crayfish popcorn to share, which was exceptionally good value. The mains took a little while as the place was very busy, and whilst my Reuben sandwich was very tasty (although a bit on the small side perhaps) my wife's handmade pasty was stodgy and uncooked. The rest of her dish though was excellent (fresh purple sprouting brocolli, chanterelles, roasted onion).
So why 4* if there was something wrong with the dish? Well, in my opinion, even the best kitchens occasionally get things wrong, especially when its a new dish. That's part and parcel of innovation, and it's innovation which makes food exciting. The reason I would definitely go back to this place is that the boss, on seeing that my wife had left the pasta, came straight over and apologised. Not only that but he took the dish off our bill and gave us some complimentary pastries to take away with us (which were very nice). For me, this kind of service is all too rare in Edinburgh; mistakes happen, it's how a business rectifies them that counts and this place is clearly run by people who care about their customers and what they're selling. Bravo.
Best brunch in town. Had the breakfast an was delighted to find the meaty stuff is butchered and made on the premises. By far the best sausage and black pudding we ever had. Excellent friendly service too.
We stopped here at the end of a walk and we had pre-booked for 21 of us. Though they don't usually do them I asked if they would provide fruit scones which a lot of us enjoyed even if a bit pricey at £4. My green tea was lovely and a few of us had lunch options which also went down well. As it is not long open there are a few teething problems to sort out such as wanting payment by card only. Get them sorted by our next visit in 6 weeks time and I am sure the fifth star will be added
Fantastic fresh hand made bread and pastries this is a must visit independent cafe. Quirky but modern cafe/bakery we could even see some artisans preparing and baking fresh products. Daily tasty fresh specials. Fantastically friendly staff very helpful and go above and beyond. This is a must visit for any one visiting Leith... 5*
Great for a coffee / hot chocolate and the bread is great. Never seem to be open though. The website said they were open again as of yesterday but weren't when I went to grab something this morning. Best phoning ahead and not relying on website times to check.
Wonderful patisserie and cafe. Limited but very fresh menu, only request I would have for the chef is to have salad/fresh greens available for a breakfast option at all times!
