if I could give it 6 stars I would. saw the place on Google maps and thought it would just be a nice little takeaway, and with any luck the food would be okay, but it was honestly mind-blowing. super soft and tender ribs, friendly and charismatic staff, awesome music. the food was so good I had to go back and get a second helping :D

I'd say one of the best BBQ places in Edinburgh. Outdoor seating with a gazebo shall menu but the options are cooked to perfection. I got the butt yum yum and it was brilliant, don't disregard it took you yet it. Would recommend and will return

Great pulled pork sandwich with a friend who highly recommend it. 👌 cozy outdoor seating. Big portion sizes. Nice small business local vibe.

Had been wanting to try this place for ages and it didn't disappoint! The food was amazing. Had burnt ends, beef short rib with corn and panko mac n cheese. Only thing I would say is that the temperature of the food wasn't as I'd like but it took nothing away from the flavour. Also it is quite pricey. For our food (which is pictured) and 2 drinks it was about £45. Great to have a real barbecue place in Edinburgh. Staff were also friendly, overall a really nice experience.

Beef cheeks are amazing, the mac n cheese is the best mac you'll get around. Wish they were open more often. Cornbread wasn't for me personally but no doubt a lot of people will love it

This place is absolutely fantastic. First of all, nice chilled out atmosphere and very kind owner and staff. That was already a positive first impression when I arrived to collect my food. As for the food itself, I am a first time customer and it was well worth visiting The Simddy. Brisket was 100% perfectly cooked, babyback ribs were lovely (especially with cherry sauce), burnt ends were absolutely superb (a big thank you for adding them and the macaroni as a free extra), sausage, macaroni and all the extras were excellent too. Fantastic flavours and just the right amount of spicyness without being over the top. Portions are generous as well. Me and my family really enjoyed the food. There wasn't a single thing that we didn't like, everything tasted superb and it was great to try out freshly made Texan BBQ for the first time. I'd say it's easily the best BBQ place in Edinburgh and even though personally I've never been to Texas, I would imagine this is exactly the kind of food you'd be served at a good BBQ restaurant in Houston or Fort Worth as an example. The Smiddy is certainly a great place to visit if you want an excellent BBQ meal and if you fancy eating something different from the usual things in this area. I'll definitely be back again for a nice meal and would recommend The Smiddy to others.

Our experience here was all we could ask for and more. The staff were extremely friendly, informative, and accommodating. You can tell they really care about their craft and it more than shows in the food they are making. There wasn’t anything on our massive platter that we didn’t love, and the experience of sitting outside in the sun and eating BBQ just can’t be beat.

My partner and i went there two weeks ago on a Sunday and we LOVED IT. The guys were really nice and helped us pick. We got the Mac n cheese, brisket and the baby ribs. Everything was INCREDIBLE. Loved the taste of the meat - well seasoned and with that charred flavour. New favourite spot. Unpretentious, great meat with none of the BS!!! Big fans.

OK it was a freezing cold night, if you want to 'sit in' then wrap up and keep warm, the staff were great, they even gave us a shot to keep us warm. Nice! A little expensive on a few of the items but all cooked and prepared exceptionally well, it was all very, very tasty. We all throughly enjoyed it, perhaps next time we carry out, as we stayround the corner. Excellent.

BBQ is a labour of love from choosing your meat to fire management to all the sides that comes with it. This place has the makings to become a truly exceptional dining experience. Compared to some of the famous american BBQ joints it is a bit underwhelming but Rome wasn't built in a day. Labour of Love. Keep up the good work guys!
