Hooked Fish & Chips

I live in Canada but travel home to the UK frequently. Each time I am back I am always on a mission to get some decent fish and chips. This place is a gem and has become my go-to spot. Good quality ingredients, perfectly prepared whilst you wait a few minutes. Chips nice and soft on the inside slightly crisp on the outside. Good size potions with flakey fish in nice crispy batter. Staff are always very friendly, especially the girl from Portugal who always finds the time to chat with her customers. Shop uncluttered and clean. Highly recommended.

I had a takeaway haddock and small chips and it was so tasty! The batter is light and not greasy, the haddock portion is huge and the chips are crispy yet fluffy inside - total perfection! Bonus - the shop is clean as a whistle unlike other chip shops. The lady at the counter is really nice and efficient too.

The shop is spotless, shiny and new. The staff are very friendly - different to some in the area. My son and I ordered haddock and chips. Haddock was sold out so we had cod and we weren't disappointed. Everything is freshly cooked. Chips are crisp on the outside, soft in. Lovely! Fish is gorgeous, flakey white flesh in a light golden batter. Beautiful. Curry sauce is thick and tasty. This will be our new regular. Back to its best under this management. Went back again last night (4/11/2022) for haddock and chips and curry sauce and as usual it was the best. Absolutely delicious, still recommended 100%.

First time I've tried this chippy. Well at least since it's been renamed. I ordered for collection. 10 minutes they assured me. When I arrived the order wasn't ready. Asked for menu to take home. I was told to take photos of menu on the wall. So my first impressions were a bit down the scale...But to my surprise 😮 the fish and chips were really nice 👌. And I'd gladly use them again.. Get some menus hooked.

Went today for the 1st time and got a warm welcome from the friendly staff. Clean and tidy shop. The food is fantastic. Tender flaky fish, chips were cooked to perfection. The other half got sausage and chips with a spam fritter, it was that big it was like a door stop! Each meal was to much to eat in one go. Great value for money. Looking forward to many other visits.

My friend and me purposely want to tried this shop for our afternoon tea. Shop is bright and very clean inside. Staff are friendly and sincere. We had ordered large cod, small chip, pineapple ring and onion ring, and drinks of course. When the food came, all the food was very good. Delicious, freshly cooked and piping hot, no batter, good quality ingredient. The look of them was crispy and inviting, and they were really delicious and wonderful. Highly recommended and WE WILL BE BACK !

HOOKED ON HOOKED FISH AND CHIPS!! As this was my first time here I ordered the small cod and chips and a battered sausage to try the place out as the previous 2 establishments located here have not been great. I can hand on heart say that the food here is nothing short of a delicacy. Easily the best sausage and fish and chips I have had. The chips in particular were amazing , perfectly cooked and with a lovely crunch - think triple cooked. No sogginess in site. Everything screamed fresh! An added bonus for me was that Tartar sauce is sold in tub rather than a sachet like most other places. Staff were great and I was served very quickly. Consider me a new loyal customer and next time I will be ordering large!

Went here for first time on Friday evening - but it wont be the last time! Lovely fresh fish in a light batter & chips were lovely. Good spicy curry, kids loved the burger & gravy was a hit too. Staff really friendly & efficient. Another lovely touch was they put some batter in a separate bag for us. Social distancing totally adhered to as well. Think I'll eat my way through the menu! Lol!
