Third visit in the last few weeks. It never fails to impress. The staff are excellent, they remember your preferences and take care of you.
The food is delicious and varied, so all tastes are catered for.
The grounds are delightful, so you can sit in the wooded garden or go for a walk.
All in all a fabulous place to stay or eat or both.
A lovely historic building, well presented throughout. Welcoming and friendly staff and lovely rooms to stay in. We enjoyed a decent cooked breakfast in the morning. Recommended.
We had an excellent lunch the food was cooked to perfection and the service was friendly. The buildings and grounds are immaculate making it good venue for a Leisurely meal. The one thing I was surprised to see the VAT was added after the bill was totaled up making it 20% more than I expected.
Stunning restaurant, hotel and wedding venue. Choice for a wedding anniversary meal. Menu excellent, service top notch and food fab. Not cheap though! Didn't stay so can't comment on the rooms.
Stayed here while working on Gt Yeldham . Food is absolutely fantastic, particularly potato rosti , very pleasant staff and excellent service. Really enjoyed my stay .
Staff where incredibly kind and helpful. Any issues they dealt with very quickly.
The rooms are very nice and comfortable love the coffee machines in the rooms.
Only downfall is the rooms where incredibly hot would recommend some air con in the summer! Or bring a fan!
We were greeted very well on arrival here and shown to our room..which at first glance looked very nice...but as we started to unpack we noticed that the the kettle , coffee machine and water filter all had water left in them..so had not been cleaned obviously... There was rubbish from previous occupent left in drawers. .heavy dust around bedside tables. and carpet felt gritty....tv remote did not work either......and sadly my husbands rib eye meal was served on a chipped plate. Our expectations were quite high for this hotel ...but sadly let down somewhat.....but must say staff were very good...house keeping definitely needs looking at
Should have been 5*'s, but there were a few small issues with noise from the room above and order issues, but otherwise it was a really nice place to stay.
The location is fantastic, on the outskirts of the village of Great Yeldham (a short walk for a newspaper) and very near to Halstead, Sudbury, Long Melford and Lavenham.
The grounds are very well kept and there is plenty of outside seating perfect for summer evenings, inside the pub it is decorated tastefully (but mind your head on the low beams). The restaurant serves some great food at a very reasonable price (Mussels to start and Skate wing for main).
The rooms are comfortable and have all that is needed for a good night's sleep (room 7) (other than the noise of creaky floorboards from the room above) the furniture could do with an update, but for £80 per night I certainly would stay again.
Breakfast was OK, not the best we have had in a hotel, it was included in the room price so again I can't really complain.
Overall a very pleasant stay in a lovely hotel in a beautiful area (oh and bumping into John Cleese) we are looking forward to returning again soon.
I stayed here whilst working nearby in Haverhill. Good rooms, the food is excellent, on my visit the bar area was very quiet, which suited me.
Had lovely birthday snd wedding anniversary lunch. Food excellent as aas the service. Only criticism was annoying flies, seemed they all congregated around our table. Enjoyed everything else
