Bean and Bud is still the best coffee to be had in the town center of Harrogate. That comes at a price but it's worth paying. I will say, if you someone who like scorching hot coffee, you won't like it here. They make it at a readily drinkable temperature that retains all the flavor and sweetness.
The cake offerings are excellent but, again, on the pricey side. You get what you pay for.
Seating is comfortable enough. A few outside seats. You're face with rows of parked cars but the road isn't as busy as most in the town center. Happily, they have a no smoking or vaping policy.
This is also a great place to buy coffee beans, loose leave tea and all the related paraphernalia.
In a nutshell, highly recommended if you like really tasty coffee and don't mind paying for it.
Also worth a mention, despite what a previous review say, they do do cappuccino!
Superb coffee! Flat whites prepared with intricacy and care that tasted perfect. Choice of alternative milks (the soy milk was creamy, delicious and not too sweet).
The staff were knowledgable and offered great recommendations.
So good I’ve been three times in two days.
(Only drinks were purchased).
Very good coffee, espresso tasty and properly extracted; milk foam was good smooth texture, overall up there with best coffee shops I visited while visiting Yorkshire. Croissant was only ok, but was not the reason I was there.
Whilst visiting Harrogate we decided to try this Specialist Cafe .Disappointed that they don't sell Cappuccino had a Latte instead and a Flat white with a slice of chunky Toast .The Toast was really tasty but I was disappointed with the coffee it was only warm .I prefer Hot coffee so I would choose to go elsewhere in future .The sign outside made us smile.
One of the very top coffee (and hot chocolate) places in Harrogate. Always great service and the cakes/cookies are sublime.
Oh and their selection of coffee , do have a good read and workout what you fancy … talk to the guys about what you like and see what they recommend you can’t go wrong.
Easily the best espresso cafe in Harrogate, obviously run by a team of passionate coffee and tea enthusiasts. You get a choice of coffee bean and they rotate the options regularly. Service is always excellent, portions are generous. Free WiFi that actually works is a bonus.
Food options are mainly cake/pastry themed; the chocolate cake is crazy good.
I've been coming here for over a decade now so I am probably a bit biased by this point but it really is a gem of a place and worthy of your custom.
The coffees are exceptional. There are two different beans for espresso coffees on constant rotation, one for batch brew and one for pour over. I'm no tasting expert, but this keeps each visit interesting and varied. The baristas are meticulous and every drink is crafted to perfection. The teas are also excellent, with a wide variety available. The hot chocolates come in a range of different intensities (milk, dark, somewhere in between and white) and are always rich and delicious.
The cakes and sandwiches are homemade with locally sourced ingredients and are exceptionally delicious, and if you're early enough to arrive shortly after opening, then there is a warm pastel de nata waiting for you (along with other pastries, chunky toast, etc).
The staff are always warm and friendly and it is clear that Bean and Bud has many regular visitors. The best endorsement I can give is that after all this time, Bean and Bud is still my family's go-to place for a coffee and a catch up.
It is a real mark of a place that after over a decade, a change in ownership, and a pandemic, that a place like this can still be going strong, all while keeping true to its original ideals. Harrogate may be a town full of tea shops, but we are much the richer for having this one.
Coffee was amazingly smooth here and it’s one of those small coffee shops who try to have that extra detail. The food choice is somewhat limited, but for a small place it still offers enough options not to go hungry and what is supplied is nice. The cakes looked amazing, but I didn’t personally try them! I did have a flower fall from the tub above on our table which made me jump! But a nice surprise :). Worth a visit
Nice and small cafe. Friendly staff who are knowledgeable about their coffee and will make recommendations based on taste preference.
Highly recommended
Very serious coffee and tea knowledge here! The lady asked us a few questions before making a recommendation for coffee and mine was one of the smoothest, silkiest coffees I've ever had. Ever. Cakes and sandwiches looked awesome too although we didn't eat anything.
