Group of us went for NYE dinner, had an excellent experience. Friendly, happy, attentive staff. The food was amazing, I had fillet steak - I always worry if it'll be cooked right etc. I needn't have worried it was perfect, everyone's food was fabulous. We were well looked after even tho we got a bit loud and changed our minds about dessert choices several times It's a lovely venue, and I'd highly recommend it for anyone looking to eat out. On busy occasions some establishments can't cope and it's reflected in the meals, not The Galley Hall - 100% and we look forward to our next visit, won't go anywhere else for my steak dinner now
Went to the Galley Hall this lunchtime. It was pleasantly bustling, with lots of small tables filled, a sign of a popular pub, especially it being midweek. I didn't think I would need to book, but it's probably advisable, especially at weekends. Met by very friendly staff, who we shared banter with and who clearly knew their menu. Portions were generous to say the least, but often when that's the case, the food lacks quality. Not the case here! Finished it off with an apparently award winning cheesecake. Can I just say that in my opinion the tag was justified. And then at the end of it all, we got the bill... And ... Hey presto... Very reasonable!! Always a nice way to end meal time!! So all in all a great choice for our lunchtime dinner. Probably the worst part was seeing the staff walk past us with some fab looking meals that I hadn't ordered from their comprehensive menu. Oh well, a reason to return! Thank you.
Having been a few times for meals I can recommend the food in this pub. The chicken burger had great flavour! What makes this pub special are the staff who are always friendly and accommodating. For that reason and more its a firm favourite of ours. A fantastic function room too which can be rented out for weddings, parties and other events!
Warm and friendly atmosphere, well presented surroundings with outdoor area and multiple indoor parts.
Good choice of beverages and then the food itself, you're in for a treat here as this is high quality food served with a smile.
We were a party of six and every meal was perfect and there was even a gluten free Yorkshire pudding option for one of our party.
The staff and owners clearly care about their clients and are professional, I would rate this restaurant as one of my absolute favourites and look forward to my next visit. Well done to the team.
Lovely pub with great prices and extremely friendly staff in the bar and the restaurant. The garden is lovely with ample parking. The food is pretty good as well.
It was an amazing pub run by very friendly and amazing people. A hidden gem.the food was great, but the afters were incredible. Will return soon!
My first visit here & I was quite impressed. The Scampi was very nice & cooked to perfection, & the Guinness was fresh & ice cold. The Ladies serving were very attentive & polite & extremely helpful. Would definitely visit again & would recommend for a pint & some lovely food.
Great food and atmosphere, staff always really nice. Dont want to recommend the place as it will mean others will find out about it
I've been here a number of times over the years, but 13th Feb 2022, was the first time for Sunday lunch.
A tad more expensive than you might pay elsewhere, but the Sunday roast was excellent, as was the starter & dessert.
The waitress who served us, was very pleasant & attentive.
The Galley Hall has an excellent terraced garden with views across the delightful Hertfordshire farmland. The owners have invested significantly in many facilities over the years, the inside of the pub is still old world charming, with a great regular menu - meal costs have been held at pre-covid levels - many pubs are jacking up prices. The pub catches the sun late evening so it's charming to relax on the terrace in glorious warmth. Note, some photos taken at about 5pm so the pub looks quiet. As it's a freehouse there is a wonderful selection of beers and cider on tap.
We tried the delicious liver & bacon casserole, absolutely delicious & very generous portions.
Definitely a jewel in the crown of Hertfordshire .
Well worth a visit to sample many of the tasty specials on offer. Can see why it's a very busy place & well worth booking in advance😋
Unscheduled visit about midday, today but worth it. Only being 2 of us , they found us a table, That will give you an idea of how popular the place is. Our meals were generous and filling, such that we never needed a dessert. You may notice from my pics there was still food on our plates, we did need a 'breather' before we could finish them. Stall polite and friendly
