Place is really lovely, team is friendly, everything was great! The rooms are spotless and the views from our room were amazing. They had an iron, ironing board and hair dryer in our room, which was super useful since we were visiting to attend a wedding in the countryside. Food was alright - rooms and service are the star here! Big bonus: seeing all the local dogs and owners gather at the pub in the evening!

My husband and I went out with my Grandma for a nice pub meal on Saturday evening, and we were completely blown away! The food was absolutely wonderful and they were more than accommodating with my Grandmas' gluten free intolerance. The staff made us feel incredibly welcome and nothing was too much trouble. Already looking forward to going back, highly recommend!

Stayed for a last minute night after my tent leaked. Even though they're currently undergoing renovations it was a lovely place. The staff were super kind and friendly and the bar was really cozy. Brilliant selection of local beers which were kept really well and I was very happy to see a premium British lager on too (Camden). The food was amazing too, chef-y pub grub with great ingredients. I was in room 12 and the music from the bar seems to travel oddly through the building to that room in particular (silent in the hall) but only a minor issue. The bed was amazing and the shower was fab too.

Lovely pub and b & b in the countryside, stayed for 2 nights while attending a wedding, nice clean bedroom with comfy bed, good size ensuite, iron, hairdryer, tea and coffee supplies in the room. Friendly staff and enjoyed my lovely breakfasts! Thoroughly recommend for a quiet, relaxing stay.

We popped in for lunch and didn't expect anything in particular, but we were pleasantly surprised. The menu was quite small but clearly they would rather do a limited number of dishes well than too many average ones. We had the burger and the fish and chips. Standard pub lunch options. But they were noticeably better than standard pub lunches. The burger was cooked beautifully and was closer to steak than a pub burger. As for the fish we both had some and both agreed it was the best fish and chips we've had in years. Reminded me of being down in Cornwall and having fish and chips on the coast where they really know what they're doing. Really impressed. We will definitely back soon

It’s our second roast lunch here and it’s really nice. Beef and lamb cooked to perfection. We tried mackerel for starter and it was really delicious. The staff is very friendly and the food is amazing. Best roast lunch we have ever had. I highly recommend it.

We were looking for somewhere new for lunch and boy the food here didn't dissapoint! We had the burger and fish and chips and can genuinely say the best food we've had in a long time. The service was slow and only 1 person serving who was more interested in dealing with the builders. But we can't wait to come again for the food, was truly incredible. Not your normal pub grub that's for sure. Thank you Chef

We stayed here whilst walking the Chiltern Way. It's very handy, not too far off the track. The staff were polite and friendly. We had an evening meal and the menu was very interesting. We chose a couple of snacks for starters - olives and a plate of crudités in a lovage mayo. Very tasty. Mains were a risotto made with pearl barley and beetroot (superb taste) and a foxy burger which was obviously made on site and cooked rare, which made it juicy. An excellent meal. Breakfast - a paid extra above the room rate - was a delicious sea trout on scrambled eggs. As we settled the bill, we had a good chat with the chef about the risotto and he was very enthusiastic in describing the process, so we can make this at home. Yum!

Popped in for Sunday lunch halfway around a local walk. Roasts are exceptional, far better than most pub roasts. The price reflects this, which some will find expensive but you get what you pay for. Drinks selection is good, lovely staff.

Probably the best Sunday lunch I can recall eating. Quite magnificent. Wonderful locally sourced produce. Spectacular flavours and unexpected extra surprises that made our meal memorable. Even the menu impregnated with seeds can be taken and reused to pot and grow plants and herbs. Not to be missed
