Hunter And Barrel

Drinks are great the cocktails taste great, are prepared with care, both the barrel aged and non barrel aged varieties. Same with the whiskey collection which has various barrel infused flavours added to them. I could easily come back here just for an hour or so of drinks with friends in the future. This is not a vegetarian friendly restaurant which suits me fine but should be made obvious to readers. The steaks are good for the quality of meat being used (we're not looking at ultra premium aged cuts but they are very well prepared regardless. I would recommend some of the slower cooked dishes as well such as the ribs an shoulder dishes. The fish is also great. Most of the mains come with chips and salad both which are well prepared and good. Some people would consider the salad to be under par compared to some higher end restaurants but for the price they seem to be fine. The Side dishes are actually hidden treasures mushrooms are my favourite. Atmosphere was definitely set to be a 5/5 except for the kid's birthday party (or something of the sort) happening right next to us, not really in the restaurant's control how their client's kids act so I won't mark against it. Service is excellent, it's not silver service but close to it. Wait staff are excellent at their jobs, courteous, understanding and friendly. One of our steaks was ordered medium and the one that arrived at the table was rare which was replaced with a completely new steak and salad, cooked from scratch, no questions. The situation was handled excellently. It was obviously serious to the staff there as it should have been. Will definitely be dining here again, remember to book ahead of time.

We visited on a Friday night. We didn't have a reservation so we had to sit outside. The way the complex of restaurants is set out gives it a relaxed atmosphere - family friendly alfresco dining feel. The service was prompt, the waiter introduced herself which added a nice personal touch. I ordered the 250g wagyu beef - medium rare. I expected wagyu beef to sort of melt in your mouth but that wasn't the case. The salad that came with the dish can do with a little more attention. It was a bowl of mostly iceberg lettuce doust with too much (what tasted like store bought) dressings. When my husband ordered the ribs on the menu, we were expecting a rack of ribs but the tastiness and tenderness of the ribs made up for the serving size. Overall a plesant experience.

Food? 4 stars, in particular the chicken wings, chicken thigh, mushrooms, pork ribs and lamb Service? 4 stars - orders taken quickly, food came quickly too. So, why only 3 stars? Because you only get the table for 90 minutes, which was not enough time for the 2 of us to order, let alone eat/drink, dessert and further drinks (I was going to get the apple pie skillet, and would have had another beer), and was rushing to finish my beer (by the time we left, we had been asked if we were close to being finished twice). I understand you get a lot of customers, especially on a Friday night, but by limiting the window in which customers can dine, you end up losing money in the process (what I would have spent on pudding/more drinks at your establishment, easily another $30-$40 at least, was taken down the road to San Churro and spent there). I *may* come back - but there are other meatlovers' haunts in Perth which serve up great food, *and* aren't trying to hurry me out when I go to eat there.

Excellent, well prepared food and good selection of drinks. Warm, comfortable and slightly upmarket environment with lovely attentive staff. Suitable for couples and well behaved families, has a separate room and a bar. Will certainly return to sample the menu. (Not a paid review and no affiliations)

Visited this place for our anniversary last night and was overall a good experience. THE GOOD The online booking was seamless and accurate, our seats were quite close to the neighbouring people but just far enough so we could still enjoy private conversations without being too noisy. The decor and branding is done nicely throughout and had a nice family friendly feel whilst still looking classy enough for first dates and special occasions. THE NOT SO GOOD We went at prime dinner time so the service was below par with having to wait for our food close to 40mins. Drinks about 20mins. The hunters feast for 2 @ $40 a head had some good meat selections but the sides and sauce options were lacking. Luckily we got a starter to fill the gaps.
