The chicest fish mongers I have ever seen! This boutique fish monger is Hove's hidden gem. As well as selling wonderfully fresh fish they have a cafe where they serve delicious dishes such as whole smoked mackerel, dressed crab, anchovies etc. We chose the fish platter which is a sample of several of their dishes which included anchovies, a herring roll mop, smoked salmon, prawn cocktail and an oyster. It was delicious, fresh and really well priced at £6! We then shared a whole oak smoked mackerel £4.70. Again, delicious. I would have ordered a prawn cocktail bap (£3) as well but that would have been too greedy and to be honest our order was very satisfying. We shall be back to enjoy the cafe but also to check out their prepped fish. They will prepare fish ready for you to pop into the oven which may include seasoning and butter. This place is a rarity. Their produce is fresh and honestly price. They make buying and eating fish a real pleasure.
I came here to celebrate a birthday and we had a fantastic evening. There’s an added excitement to the fact that everyone is experiencing the same dishes at the same time. Playful, unexpected plates are paced throughout the evening - we stayed for about 3.5 hours but it felt more like 1.5! It was great that the chef came out to speak to us too and present some of the dishes. Would definitely recommend it
An absolutely beautiful experience with the most wonderful food and drink. It was a massive treat and we were left so inspired! The snacks were delicious, but the three fish courses were naturally the stand out. The slip sole was so tender that it fell away from the bone so cleanly, and it was so incredibly buttery and rich and just divine! We had the cheese course as well which was gorgeous. The wine flight is well worth doing too - who could resist a glass of champagne at the beginning of a special meal!? The ambience of the restaurant was calm and we felt very comfortable and able to talk as it wasn't too noisy. The service was efficient and we felt very looked after. We would absolutely love to come again and will be telling everyone we know!
The Tasting menu is the only option, fine: at £85 however, I’d have expected a little more…..we thought the first two “nibbles” were an extra, and then realised no, they were the first course. That said, the fish cooking was delicious. Because of our confusion over had we started or not, we were late ordering the wine flight. Looking at the wines, that too comes out a bit mean at £55pp. The service was a bit up and down - sometimes a long wait, and other times not enough of a pause, maybe because they serve each table in the same order every dish round. The room itself is a bit bright. Other reviewers too commented on how bare it all feels. I always wonder why the chef serves - isn’t he needed in the kitchen? It was a treat for a special occasion, but all in all I have to say I wouldn’t shell out that sort of money to visit again.
Took my partner here for her birthday, and we had a really lovely evening. Great food, atmosphere, and it was great chatting to the head chef/owner after too. Definitely recommended
I had one of the best meals of my life here. The chef has a genius for combining flavours into something really special. Let me give an example. The appetizers included a seaweed wafer flavoured with miso. On the wafer was ocean trout with a little oyster puree and some coriander. The rest of the meal continued in the same vein. Highly recommended!
Came back again in 2023 and had another great meal. I really enjoyed the way the servings highlighted and supported the flavour of the fish. More than ever highly recommended for fish lovers.
The Little Fish market is outstanding. It's without doubt one of the best places to eat in Brighton and if you're a fish lover then it's a must go. Everything we ate was delicious and all the fish was perfectly cooked. The wine flight was so good. The service was first class. I can't wait to go back.

Wow - if you are up for some high end quality fish, served as a diverse and very tasty set menu- then head here. Great taste, great combination of flavors and great service with an excellent waiter. Expect to pay 69£ for a five course tasting menu and if you like add some 48£ for wine pairing. We enjoyed truly the evening. It is small and cosy so expect to
Book in advance to get a table
We thoroughly enjoyed our experience at The Little Fish Market! The staff and chef were really friendly and explained each dish in detail. Each of the courses from the tasting menu were fabulous and the flavours were mouth-watering! We can’t wait to come back soon!
We have been to TLFM on a number of special occasions and were really looking forward to our return visit with a group of friends. The food did not disappoint - it is - and always has been delicious, but the experience was somewhat spoilt by the noise levels. Although the restaurant is small, just one or two people talking loudly will lead to unacceptable noise levels which made it difficult to hear the waiter let alone the other people in our party of only 6. I’m sorry to say that this substantially retracted from the enjoyment of what is an expensive meal out.
Be prepared for a wine list where sadly the quality does not live up to the high price.
Had a superb meal here. To my mind a restaurant worthy of a Michelin star. Excellent dishes and wine pairings. The Crab dish was a particular high light. Lovely touch of the chef presenting the dishes. We will be back. 😊
