Held my hubby’s surprise 50th here. Luke and his staff worked really hard to give us a fabulous night. Nothing was too much trouble, food was gorgeous and plenty of drink flowing. Fantastic venue for any occasion. Thanks guys xxx
Excellent surroundings, superb food and friendly staff. A must place to go and enjoy.
Lovely brekkie on a Saturday morning. Food was pretty peng, staff were friendly and accommodating, the coffee was decent and the place had a good energy. Reasonable prices, with seating options both inside and out. Very dog friendly
First time here. Fab breakfast, tasty food and quality coffee at reasonable prices. Good atmosphere - dog friendly without being taken over with a relaxed vibe.
Staff were friendly and helpful, and although we were not there for long, we never felt rushed. Will definitely visit again 😊
We have been coming here for years for breakfasts and lunches and this year pizza evenings! Never disappointed. Also our golden retriever enjoys the free treats when he joins us. Excellent all round.
A lovely bright airy cafe in the heritage building of Brooke’s Mill. The staff are really good, the coffee is lovely and the bacon sandwich I had was tasty.
Everything in this building is well kept, clean and tidy. The cafe always seems pretty busy when I go in so it must be doing okay.
The staff are lovely too, really helpful and served our food and drinks just as we’d asked for.
There’s a history room across from the cafe that’s well worth a visit, showing the heritage of the Brooke family who I think still own the whole milll complex. Now of course it is divided into separate units, one being the cafe. There’s also an art gallery, a dance study and a fitness centre in the same area as the cafe.
Overall a good experience.
I am checking out dog friendly locations - "I had to eat this in the name of research" for Poppy and Coco 🤣😂🤣
I have been wanting to visit for ages, today was the day. I was greeted with a warm smile from all staff I encountered. I had looked at the menu online, but on arrival spotted the "today's Sunday brunch special" it certainly was special - it was DELICIOUS. I had two coffee's and stayed around 2 hours reading, everyone was happy to leave me to it, just checking in occasionally without me feeling I was taking up a table.
I kept an eye on others food and everything looked amazing, full English was huge, and pancakes (3 per portion) came with jam and syrup on the side - which I prefer as sometimes they can have too much syrup.
A great spot - will definately be back - need to try those pancakes 😋😋😋
A pleasantly surprising first time visit. The cafe is light and airy, and service was prompt and friendly. A nice selection of foods and drinks available, with dietary requirements covered. Will definitely be back again.
Great hidden gem - more people need to know about this place.
SOTN does a fab breakfast, great lunch, amazing coffee, and now they even do delicious wood-fired pizzas on Friday and Saturday evenings.
We're so lucky to have this in Huddersfield.
What a lovely surprise.
We went in for lunch to kill time between my daughter's flute and piano exams just across the river. The welcome was warm, the service was quick and friendly, and the food was lovely.
The warm welcome and excellent service wasn't just reserved for humans either - there were several dogs in who were very well looked after with bowls brought out for them.
The Michelin stars were initially meant to represent being worthy of a stop along the way for one, worth a detour for two and worth a special journey for three. Going by that standard, I'd say Sons of the North is worth at least two, if not three.
I am tempted to book future music exams over the river despite there being at least two closer venues just so we can come back here!
Really good service from Isla and others. Lovely food, well prepared.
Great place for breakfast and friendly staff and make you welcome.
