What a great place to meet up with friends, nice atmosphere and plenty of space outside in good weather. Don't worry if it's raining there are under cover areas on both sides of the yard as well as room inside. The food is good & well presented and the toilets are first class.They also have live music on most Fridays I believe, in fact this week it was a group called the Black Sheep who were rather good.
Update, 2023, there are now new owners and they no longer do food, but the other comments have not changed.

Kendal Weekend - 23/02/24 - Cumbrian Ales: Loweswater Gold 4.3% and Lancaster Brewery: Lancaster Blonde 4%. I must say the pint of Loweswater Gold was exceptional!

Excellent bar, loved the cocktail menu. Dog friendly was the crowning touch. Drinks were great, live music was fun, staff were friendly and super helpful. Will definitely visit again if I’m in the area!

Really really good food here. I had the Cheese and Onion Pie with 'Shoestring' chips and enjoyed every bit of it. Even the veg!
The menu is quite varied and looks to cater for lots of different diets. I really enjoyed the garlic bread and Chicken 'popcorn' as well as the calamari. I don't see any sign of discrimination nor bad food as other reviews have suggested. Though I did visit on a Tuesday afternoon so there was no rushing the cooking staff 😁.

I didn't eat here, only had a few quiet pints at night, nice atmosphere and the back beer garden is stunning
They have little fires aswell to keep you warm 🔥🔥
Not bad if your taking a bit of hot stuff out and want a quick drink before dinner
