We stopped by for a quick bite. The gentleman was very friendly and served the food as per our request. The batter was thin and crispy as requested by us. 5 star for the friendly and welcoming man behind the counter and cook.
A great, traditional fish & chip shop, offering a simple menu.
The chips were some of the best I've had in years; well cooked and not greasy. Service was very friendly and quick. Everything was well wrapped in layers of paper, but, I hope in future, there is no more expanded polystyrene packaging. This is why I've taken the score down to a 4.

Good price. Traditional. The staff is friendly and took the packaging seriously. The fish was not fried in the same oil with the sausage so it's halal friendly.
Great little chippy. It costs only £3,50 for a curry chips unlike Fridays of kendal they rip you off by charging an extra quid, yes £4.50.,so do yourself a favour and support the stramongate fish and chip chop, who have reasonable prices and great food, this is the business I will be supporting in the current climate and not one that likes to rip its customers.well done and keep up the good work
Excellent fish, chips and mushy peas. Freshly cooked to order.
A hidden gem. Wonderful friendly staff and great food at a reasonable price. At some fish and chip places in Kendal you won't get much change out of £20, but Stramongate Chippy offers fresh fish cooked to order at a great price. Ideal after a day on the fells. Trust me give it a try. Thanks to the staff 👍

For a chippy that's not on the coast, this was very good: haddock was great, as were the chips and gravy. If I'm ever back in Kendal and fancy fish and chips, I'm coming back here.
Good chippy food and reasonable prices considering the current climate
