Waterstones Cafe Hull

Visited here looking for something new to read but not really knowing what. After a quick chat with the lady at the till, I was directed upstairs. I love the layout of this shop and the coffee shop upstairs is a nice addition. Upon still not quite finding what I was wanting, another staff member recommended a book I had picked up to ponder on. I can say I am not disappointed at all with it. The staff know their stuff and help create the lovely friendly atmosphere in this store!

The second Waterstones visited this week. This branch, in Hull city centre, is bright and spacious with plenty of room for browsing. Like other Waterstones the books and other products are attractively displayed so that you want to spend hours in there; there’s no sense of being rushed to make a purchase -staff are around but let you browse at your own pace. I love the staircase up to the first floor-more books, gifts, a busy cafe and seating area snd the toilet. The staff in the cafe are very welcoming and there’s a good selection of drinks, sandwiches and cakes. I tried the cappuccino cake (delicious) and had a very good pot of Yorkshire tea. Well worth a visit if you are in Hull city centre.

It's the first time I have returned to a bookshop for many years (using supermarkets instead). I had forgotten what a lovely experience it was and really enjoyed browsing all the different sections - I would highly recommend 😊 I haven't given 5* purely based on the service, I stood politely at the cash counter where two members of staff carried on conversations, started new conversations even after looking at me attempting to hand my book over and seemed genuinely surprised I wanted to buy a book😂

This Waterstones is such a lovely little place. A relaxed and friendly environment with a wide selection of books and where the cafe and staff are lovely. Prices for food and drinks there are very reasonable. When we come to Hull this is the place to stop by and have a drink and probably buy a book too.
