Favourite place to come eat. Amazing chef and amazing front of house staff. Baffles me seeing some of these ratings, rating anything below a 5* is ridiculous! Beautiful steak, and chicken, and salmon, massive portions, along side the most too die for rice, and plenty of garlic (my favourite) ice cold drinks, come all the times and defo will be back. Amazing!!!!!!!
Absolutely amazing service, the food was phenomenal especially the lobster. The experience overall was second to none, this was the best Japanese meal I have had in a long time, I'd highly recommend it
A must try place
Gangadhar was the chef for us. He was patient and polite. Pan fried ice cream is good. Fish cooked in banana leaf is a must try. Will take nearly 2 hours to complete the full course due to the live counter.
So much fun and perfectly suited to large groups.
What to order: The teppanyaki set menu for groups, it's a number of courses, cooked in front of you and it's a bit of a show too. A great laugh!
When to go: evenings
What makes it unique: it's great fun
I absolutely love it at teppanyaki! Delicious and authentic Japanese food that never fails to be fantastic. I always have the sashimi to start, although it's such a generous portion that you feel a bit of a glutton having a main course! It's a great place for Japanese food first timers because the menu's are clear and the staff helpful so you never feel intimidated like you sometimes can in restaurants. Delicious wines, great menu, great atmosphere and lovely staff. Highly recommended!
Excellent service, high quality food and an interesting eating experience. Decor starting to look dated but it all clean and works well. Shrinking violets may not appreciate the "audience" interaction or the need to share a hotplate table with others but look past this and relax for a fun experience. £70 for two inc drinks would be about right.
The food is fantastic and cooked right in front of you. This is a good meal out and a dining spectacle!
It's not just your eat and go resturant it's a night out. I have been twice now and had the best night both times. The staff are fab and I love the food being cooked in front of you. The only down side is the price but I'd actually say that it's worth the money.
Absolutely fantastic! We were well looked after and the food was amazing. We visited on a quiet evening so there wasn't much atmosphere but it didn't take away from our experience. We will definitely visit again and recommend to all our friends.
Brilliant experience and food cooked fresh right in front of you.
Service is excellent and the whole dining experience is fun. Only issue would be that the staircase to get to the restaurant is narrow and a little steep for anyone with mobility problems.
Oh my word! This restaurant must be tried!! The welcome is warm and friendly, the atmosphere relaxed along with family friendly fun. The food, which delivers incredible flavours, is freshly cooked right in front of you. Don't be put off by the prices - it's worth every penny!!!
Fantastic restaurant. Great food and service. Great chef. A fun place to visit. Really good experience.
Wow, wow, wow! This place was fantastic. The cocktail menu was extremely impressive, especially their Japanese variety. It was lovely to sit down with a cocktail before dining, and the staff are lovely. We were sat down with another small group to eat, and the food was just fantastic. They accommodated my pescatarian diet with no drama, and the chef was extremely interactive and made it a wonderful dining experience. You are given a cool button so if you want drinks at any time, you can order these easily. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anybody! The menu was vast, from simple good quality meats, to full on fish.
Great place for a meal! Lovely experience and delicious food. Perfect for a special occasion. Cocktails are wonderful too. I really enjoyed my meal here!
Had a lovely evening celebrating my Daughter’s 18th!
Food was Amazing, fresh & tasty.
Staff really friendly, helpful & service was spot on.
Highly Recommend this place. You will not be disappointed.
Thank you
Great fun and good for a special occasion. It is very busy so make sure you book. The chefs are pretty interactive and they give you a little button to order drinks from the table . The meat was a little dry if I'm completely honest but it was overall a great evening. They ask for a deposit to avoid empty seats which is totally understandable when you see how popular this place is. The drinks are varied and service is fast. The starter was the same for everyone but it was very tasty. Fairly good portion sizes too. Overall a good evening
Wracking my brains for somewhere to take my partner for a birthday meal. I remembered visiting Tapenyaki Manchester as a child with my parents and being wowed by the displays of dragons breath dancing across sizzling prawns and steaks hissing their way across a scalding hotplate.
To my suprise we didn't have to go that far! Tapenyaki Leeds is hidden away next to the Victoria quarter area. Descending a flight of stairs we walked into a well maintained but possibly a little dated subterranean room. Despite the very low occupancy we were asked to take a seat in the bar area. Drinks were served, some of the signature cocktails are truly delicious and quite beautiful.
Eventually we took a seat around the grill with a group of strangers. Nine of us in total ordered our selection from various set menus and with that, the show began.
Our chef played the part of the grumpy Japanese chef to a tea. His act given lie by the expertise in which he sent eggs flying and raised an inferno from a pile of diced onion. Truly, this is dinner theatre at it's best. In an age when tiktok can compress a recipe into a thirty second clip. Talent is only made scarce by the praise it deserves. But these are truly the practiced hands of a master.
The food was beautiful. Those nine strangers became friends and the chef gave a modest bow. A fantastic evening. Which surprised me greatly. The food was very high quality. The price, maybe a little high. But then you're paying for the experience. Which has transitioned from modern in the 1990s to retro and sleek in the 2020s.
You should visit this place for a lively time. Go with friends. Be sure to book and enjoy the experience for yourselves.
We will most assuredly be back.
Thank you very much for making my partners night very special Tapenyaki Leeds.
We had an amazing night at Teppanyaki Leeds. Prior to visiting I was expecting some cheesy cooking entertainment serving mediocre food. However, I couldn't have been further wrong! Our chef was amazingly skilled and produced absolutely top-notch food. The quality was amazing. All the staff were exceptionally pleasant and attentive to our requirements. I can't recommend this place highly enough. Excellent value for money.
