Excellent! I happened to walk into the Black Swan one evening this week whilst over-nighting in Leyburn. Not only was the food plentiful but tasty too, quality and more than satisfactory. The landlord is a humorous chap (free of charge) and the locals are friendly too. The decor is fascinating as are the thoughtfully placed items scattered around the place. 5* - will definately call in again!
Great service! The lovely lady was working on her own (may have been somebody in the kitchen) but she was definitely understaffed, and did a wonderful job. Very caring and prompt and looked after us and our dog. Lovely, clean, dog friendly pub with nice food and good relaxing music and a pleasant atmosphere.
Warm cosy pub. Service slow, waited over 50mins for our meals. Gammon steak for hubby and chicken burger for me. But I have to admit they were worth the wait. Really good, freshly prepared, large portions and piping hot. Recommend if you can be patient.
We stayed here for 2 nights in a double room at the front of the building. The room was nice with a really comfy bed and a good shower. The room was clean and had lovely wooden beams , sash windows , a full-length free standing mirror , tv, and tea and coffee . My only negatives were the lack of anywhere to hang your clothes . Due to the shape of the room, I could understand why there was no wardrobe, but it could accommodate hanging rails. Also no bathroom mirror. The staff were all really friendly and the food on the evening was of a really good standard and quality as was the breakfast. The location is ideal situated on the main square and was good value for money . I would recommend and would stay again.
This was a quirky little pub with a friendly atmosphere and pretty full when we visited. We only had a drink in the bar area but there were other areas for dining that looked cosy and comfortable with lots of interesting things to look at. Other guests were raving about the food so I can only imagine it would be worth trying. Location is handy on the square. Definitely recommended if you are passing.
A very friendly and well-kept pub with good pub grub and local ales in good fettle. My bangers and mash with onion gravy and garden peas was obviously freshly prepared, and very tasty, with a good portion size. Special mention must also be made of the young, friendly, and attentive staff. All in all it made for a very pleasant lunchtime indeed. Recommended
Wonderful stay at The Black Swan, food was great and the staff are amazing they cannot do enough for you. Entertainment was fab and the pub was buzzing.
Small point and would have scored higher on the room but the shower was a bit temperamental but I believe the owner is in the process of doing the rooms up, the bed was super comfy and I would definitely stay again and recommend to my family and friends, brilliant 2 day stay

The food was out of this world and the home made steak and kidney pudding is literally the next level and is home made on the premises by the landlady
The team here have been here just a few months but it is clear that they are using their winning Yorkshire formula to make it a success
We left with happy tummies and big smiles

Staff lovely, breakfast amazing and room gorgeous. Only tiny issue is hot water for the bath is only lukewarm same both nights. Apart from that we will be back.
Food good just found the lighting a bit dark, like to see what am eating. Will give it another go when light nights come round again.
