The food was really very good with large portions and the service at the bar was friendly and prompt in spite of the staff being under pressure on a busy Sunday. Our drinks were lovely and it was great to sit in a relaxed atmosphere playing a board game while we waited for our meals. Unfortunately, the wait for food was over an hour with the kitchen clearly struggling with service and washing up, but we weren't too hungry to wait and we left feeling really happy and relaxed after a lovely lunch. Also the toilets were clean and nicely presented which is a rare thing in restaurants and cafes of this size. Thanks to all for making us so welcome.
Delicious food, wonderful place, perfect service. A good place to take a break, in one of Liverpool's best known places, Lark Lane. Go with friends, alone or with your dog. Dog friendly. Good food and drink.
Really cute, cozy place. Love the bookish decor and the fact that they have board games available to play. Really nice atmosphere. I also really enjoyed the beans on toast. I appreciated the amount of vegetarian and vegan options on the menu.
Ok, my photo doesn’t do it justice but the food here is so delicious. We ordered the Roast Beef Wreck sandwich and the Deli Board – every element is meticulous prepared and cooked to perfection. The roast beef is super tender, and so flavourful paired with the melted, gooey mature cheddar. The portions on the deli board are incredibly generous; I mean, look at the amount of cheese you get for £14? An absolute steal. It’s worth noting that this place is also dog-friendly, a huge win for dog parents like us. This place is easily our new favourite spot for brunch/lunch and I’m eagerly looking forward to returning.
Called in for food after the race for life in Sefton park.
Service was great - a little wait at the bar to place our order but completely understandable with an event just finishing.
Food arrived in a good time and tasted delicious - all 8 of us couldn't fault a thing!
The staff is very friendly, creating a good atmosphere. It's a shame that we were served a bottle of white wine that wasn't chilled; we had to put it in the ice bucket and wait for quite a while.
had a lovely time here !! such a cozy n fun place to eat :) the food was very good and gluten free as well ! tho the fries had some cross contamination i didn’t mind, so that’s something to look out for! also the music was a wee bit loud but hey, it was good music and what can you expect from a cozy pub !! superb 👍
I love the bookbinder! Such a charming and rustic venue, the decor and ambience is lovely and made me feel really at ease and happy. My drinks were fab and i was offered many cocktail recommendations as well as beer options by the lovely Rosie and Aaron! They were so sweet and friendly, offering amazing service, so much so I came back for breakfast the next morning and was super satisfied with the quality of the food. The full english was delicious and I have to point out the mushrooms were incredible! Overall I am definetely coming back for more fun when I'm in Liverpool again, it was a great experience at the Bookbinder!
I got the roast beef which was homely and just what a roast should be. The beef was still slightly pink in the middle even though I got there at 3.30pm. Gravy was yum and the Yorkshire pudding cooked crispy on the outside and nice & soft but not doughy on the inside. The tender stem broccoli was a little old but other than that it was delicious! The service is quick and staff friendly. This is a lovely spot for a relaxed Sunday afternoon lunch.
Lovely decor throughout the venue, with kind staff. The portions seem slightly smaller than average, but they are filling, and the food comes plated in a beautiful, modern-style way.
We had the Ox Cheek Lasagne and the Vegan Pie. The Pie was good, but the Lasagne was to die for. Tender meat with what looked like homemade pasta sheets and a rustic garlic bread. Delicious.
For desert, we had the Vegan Brownie, and the Gluten Free Sticky Toffee Pudding, which were good, especially with the Vegan ice cream, but we found the Sticky Toffee Pudding to be sickening sweet...
The meal was fully accompanied by a couple of refreshing cask ales from "Beartown".
Overall, it is a good place to visit for a meal or even just a small bite in between drinks. I personally would visit again with my family, especially so I could make them taste the Ox Cheek Lasagne (seriously, order it, it's too good).
