Located in the heart of Knightsbridge, on the corner of Sloane Street and Cadogan Place – The Rib Room Bar & Restaurant has been feeding and entertaining customers and visitors to this part of town for over 55 years since. Walking in from Sloane Street you can’t miss the restaurant which sits at the front of Jumeriah Carlton Tower Hotel. Enter the restaurant and you’ll discover the most magnificent marble-topped bar for sipping on cocktails, plush green leather chairs and decadent mirrored walls. It’s all very Gentleman’s club inside, with a nod to the classic American steakhouse.

The Rib Room seems to be a very classic English restaurant, well done. The night we went they were very busy but the service was still attentive. The bar selection is impressive and I'm sure everyone's drink preferences could be catered for. We had scallop on pork belly for starter, and duck and steak for mains with potatoes and beans on the side. For dessert we got a sharing platter. Amazing food and went home happy and full.

If you want to feel as if you are about to step onto the set of a James Bond film set you need to visit the . Blooming Brilliance is on until the 2nd of August 2015 but don't let this stop you visiting after. We sat down at the The Rib Room for a drink already feeling like a secret spy and ordered a Martini, shaken not stirred, this is how it comes though unfortunately so I didn't get to say the iconic line. The martini shaken with a twist of Orange provided a beautiful drink for me to sip throughout my wonderful stay at the bar. We got talking to Rihards, the bar man, who was a fountain of knowledge about the hotel and every cocktail and drink behind the bar. He introduced us to the Jumeirah Carlton Towers very own gin (as you can see below). Showed us their range of cigars, some costing up to £150 each and informed us of all the celebrities who had visited the hotel. He also told us if you stayed in the most expensive suite in the hotel you are picked up from the airport in a Rolls Royce and dropped to the door.

Surprisingly excellent food. The beef (Aberdeen Angus) was absolutely exceptional, probably the best I have had in months. The combination of the rump and slow cooked cheek allowed tasting to completely different ways of cooking beef ... both very very tasty, really outstanding.

Interesting smoked quail breast with apple consommé.
also great deserts, mainly the Apple crumble soufflé.

We booked the London Restaurant Festival menu, which for 29 pound/person was impressive value.
I guess they also have a lunch menu of similar price, not sure if with similar dishes.
Really recommended

Going to a smart restaurant in one of London's most expensive hotels and then complaining about the prices could be considered one of the more futile crusades a food blogger might engage in. I am certainly not, at least traditionally, the Rib Room's target audience - it's not just that I don't like spending £150 on dinner without a cast-iron guarantee everything will be excellent, it's not even that I feel slightly out of place in this most glitzy of surroundings. It's simply that in a more general sense, the Rib Room isn't "me". I would never have gone had I not been invited, and despite having enjoyed a perfectly decent evening I am almost certain never to go back. There was nothing drastically wrong with anything (well, there was one thing, but more on that later), but I just know there are better ways of spending that kind of money - call it a blessing or a curse. To be fair to the guys behind the Rib Room, they have clocked on that basing their business model on a group of ageing

Rib Room is one of my favourite restaurants in Dubai and when I realised that it was founded here I was ecstatic to give it a try. However, I was slightly disappointed by the overall experience.

Weirdly enough I enjoyed the dining experience in Dubai far more than the original, the day I went it was busy and though the waiter's acted professionally the overall 'air' one should feel in a high class knightsbridge establishment was lost.

I ordered the Wagyu rib eye and was happy by the overall taste but I felt the condiments weren't great, the pepper sauce was too spicy to have with the steak.

Overall I would rather go to its namesake in Dubai than the much more expensive Knightsbridge establishment.

The ambience is relaxing and quiet - ideal for a romantic meal. The bar is beautiful too. It is a pricey place to go but a welcoming reprieve from the crowded shopping in Harrods. The dishes are best described as inspired, thoughtful and creative with fusions. Not often do you get food which makes you go hmmm. I was a bit skeptical as both of us don't take red meat and thought it would be challenging to get something here since it's called the rib room. Granted it's probably known for the beef but I will go ahead and recommend the seafood. The scallops to start are cooked to perfection with seemingly random bits of chutney and sauce thrown in - yet they work! Next up was roasted monkfish with a lovely fish sauce. The desert platter for two was very rich - some were good others were bad but hey you get some you lose some. The wines were reasonable and good quality. The service was brilliant too.

Last year, when Saff was invited along to review the newly refurbished Rib Room, I was gutted! Not only had the iconic Knightsbridge restaurant been given a makeover by designer Martin Brudnizki but Head chef Ian Rudge had created a new menu too. (Don’t worry the renowned roast rib of beef is still there – but be warned, it’s huge. literally the size of a cow!)

So when I found out that the Rib Room bar menu also had a recent overhaul, I just had to go. Also they were recently awarded three AA Rosettes at the AA Hospitality Awards 2012, and Michele was named Hotel Restaurant Manager of the Year at The 2012 Hotel Cateys. The elegant bar and restaurant has a really cozy feel – low lighting, dark furniture and decor with sparkling touches of gold. The polished marble bar counter takes center-stage, and a stage it is. As it’s here where the cocktails are prepared with all the theatre and drama of a Broadway show.

Despite it being in the heart of Sloane Street and on the ground floor of the 5 star Jumeirah Carlton Hotel, you’re made to feel welcome and relaxed… Although I wouldn’t wear ripped up jeans, unless you’re a former Grand Slam tennis champion!

The bar’s clientele, mostly businessmen, ladies of leisure and shoppers taking a well deserved break, were causing a gentle buzz. We decided to sit at a low table to people watch, flick through the bar menu and study the brilliant cocktail lists.

From the ‘Drinking with Dickens’ page, I picked the For Love o’ Liquor £15. Patron XO Coffee, Baileys, Galliano and Coconut Cream. This, as the menu says, is ‘A creamy after-dinner indulgence’, you can say that again! It was served up by the mixologist who developed the drink for a cocktail competition in Spain five years ago. Guess what? It won best cocktail and so it should. It tasted like a liquid dessert, so sweet, so creamy and Baileys always says Christmas to me.

Saff ordered a Sloane Street Vesper, £15, from the London Dandies section. Pinky vodka, Sipsmith’s gin, Americano Cocchi and Lillet Blanc. A combination of cheek & chic – but it’s the combination of premium vodka and gin that delivers such a powerful kick.

Next I just had to order from ‘The Gin and Bitters Experience’ £16. You choose from the bespoke bitters selection (I went for Grapefruit) and a gin (I had Miller’s Westbourne Strength). The bartender mixes the drink at your table until it’s perfect for your taste. Some bartenders are said to be able to analyse your character from what bitters and gin you order – I had no idea of what he made of me!

Talking of taste it was time to order from the bar menu, although we could have easily ordered from the cocktail list all night. The food menu is split into four sections, light bites, sandwiches & burgers, soups and salads and steak and fish. We’d been on a run of burgers, one at Byron and one at MeatLIQUOR‘s first birthday party, so we both decided to continue the theme.

Saff ordered the Trio of mini burgers £12, from the light bites section. There’s the choice of three varieties, Classic, Caramelised onions and Cheese. You can have one of each or all the same, it’s up to you. Each slider sized burger is cooked medium and holds on to its quality beef flavour, the meat is perfectly seasoned and not ground too finely. Saff really rated the caramelised onion topping, which she described as like an onion marmalade.

I went ‘large’ and chose the Crab and lobster burger, £22, from the sandwiches and burgers list. The actual patty is quite difficult to describe, dense like beef but with the delicate flavours of seafood. Massive chucks of white lobster meat in an amazing Thermidor sauce topped it off. Served with a subtle lime mayonnaise and a refreshing tomato and red onion salad (in a retro space age bowl – for some reason it reminded me of Space 1999). The buttery sweet brioche bun deserves a special mention too, I could have easily eaten a baker’s dozen.

We also shared a side order of chips, at least twice (if not thrice) fried. Perfectly golden and crispy outside whilst super fluffy inside, delicious dipped in the lime mayo!

We just about had room for a dessert, these aren’t on the bar menu but just ask the friendly bar staff. The Valrhona white chocolate mousse with blackcurrant jelly £8.50, was screaming out to me. Layers of creamy white mousse and a jelly so intense that it may well have been a solidified blackcurrant juice. Topped with a white chocolate shard, fresh berries and vanilla ice-cream.

Saff ordered the baked custard tart with blackberry and pear compote, £8.50, maybe because I recently had one at Tuddenham Mill. She thought it was a delicious, perfect traditional custard tart that hadn’t been ‘messed with’… Although she didn’t use those words – I blame the cocktails.

There you have it, fab bar food and incredible cocktails in a decadent yet relaxed setting. So if you’re out and about Knightsbridge way, pop in to the Rib Room and treat yourself…

Lovely place to chill in Knightbridge. Was taken there by a college. The place is spacious. The terrace not that big just can accommodate few chairs and tables is a bit crowded ; is a smoking area... consider in UK you can’t smoke anymore in public places. The service was impeccable. Emily and Joseph were very polite and professional. The life Music played in the background was nice and soft

I must say the roast beef here is divine! My friends & I like the fact you can order either an American thick cut serving or a thinly cut serving of beef which is my personal preference. The hot towels are a nice touch at the beginning of the meal, so are the complimentary rolls with butter. I normally choose a soup for starter & they not only look good, they taste really good too. The Yorkshire's are an impressive size too. The horseradish as a side has a good kick to it which I like. Definitely the best restaurant in London for me when looking to enjoy a roast dinner. I've been to Simpson's of The Strand which is very nice, but The Rib Room takes number 1 spot for me. Looking forward to returning again soon!

The place looks gorgeous-- very much in the gentleman's club style, leather, dark wood and old mirrors. The staff at the bar are friendly and certainly know their stuff and the food is pretty gorgeous. Really the only thing to watch out for is the cost, which is fairly extreme. It's all pretty old-school and like the name suggests, not the best place to go if you're a vegetarian. If you avoid meat but eat fish, you'll be fine, though-- the seafood is very lush.

Came for a private wine tasting celebrate friends wedding anniversary. As you can imagine, the wines were simply top-notch but the chosen canapes to match them were equally fantastic. Even "classics" like prawn cocktail had a vibrancy despite the old school and very simple recipe. Paired with the appropriate wine they all made for a wonderful taste experience. Each wine was also served as a full glass so there was more than enough, even before all the opened but unfinished bottles were left with us at the end of the tasting. The guide was both very knowledgeable as you'd expect, but also very friendly. The place itself was very well appointed, clean and inviting. Having looked at the to menu, I am very tempted to return for a meal when finances allow.

As always the tops. But the mangement must make up their minds when they are opening and closing. They have lost a lot of customers because of it. I have loved the Rib Room and have been a regular customer for over 50 years and have never seen It so empty in my life. SERVICE 5*.

Excellent service and they did all the modifications I needed in my meal and didn't feel judged for having to make so many for me. Perfect! Even with the less exciting meal I asked for, it was still very tasty. I would go back any time!
