This place offers a very pleasant experience to enjoy cheese/meat/wine/champagne. It's staff are well experienced and knowledgeable about what's being served. The restaurants heigine isn't high but it's fine/acceptable. Would go again for sure.

We stumbled across this cute little cheese and champagne shop in Covent Garden waiting for the theatre one night. They had a range of fondue and baked cheeses, or you could choose or have chosen for you, a selection of cheeses which we did. We had a selection of five which came with baguette. Great spot for date night.

Very nice place, good location. The amount of cheese is too small for the price. But the cheeses are good.

Lovely. A place that does what it says on the tin. A tiny little space across two floors a stone's throw from Covent Garden, Champagne + Fromage is a great place to dip into mid-afternoon for a pick me up. We went for a flight of champagne each - three glasses of different grapes (who doesn't love a selection?) - and shared a cheeseboard - choose three from a range (something old, something new, something fruity and something blue...) - and would have declared ourselves done, considering we had dinner at St John booked for later that evening. But, of course, we couldn't resist and had stayed for another bottle of bubbly. Sitting downstairs, the atmosphere's a bit lacking but nothing that the fizz couldn't combat.

This place is seriously underrated, barely any of my favourite food bloggers (who I’m always trying to catch up with!) have been here yet. But ladies and gents I’m here to tell you that you have to go now!. Having featured in the press recently due to the controversy around opening up their second shop in Brixton. I was pretty shocked to hear that more than 300 people had signed up to a party called Yuppies Out, which claims to stand against gentrification in South London. The stated aim of the event “is to try and disturb the yuppie infidels so much that they choke on their rancid fizz and vintage death cheese”.

Cheese has a special place in my stomach, as one of those foods so readily available yet so often misunderstood and underestimated. Consumerism has been both a boon and a curse to the food industry in many regards. It’s great to see when restaurants such as Champagne + Fromage dedicate themselves solely to these ingredients.

The concept of Champagne and Fromage, a new champagne bar in Covent Garden is to introduce the British to the idea that there’s more to champagne than the big brands we all know. The Champagne district itself in France is home to more than 300 wineries each producing its own range of champagne. These independent producers develop champagnes that have unique characteristics and often offer better value than the large Champagne houses. Some use organic farming or minimal intervention production techniques and many have been family owned for hundreds of years. And, very few are known outside of France.

All special occasions should be celebrated with bubbles, and where better than a trip to Champagne + Fromage, to celebrate friend E entering the hallowed halls of the legal profession.

It’s a warm welcoming shop window just a few steps away from Covent Garden & theatre-land, the interior looking like what I imagine a rustic deli in the deepest darkest French countryside to look like.

We’re pretty hungry, so glass of fizz in hand, we order a selection of food to share. One of us (note, it’s not me) is vegetarian and there’s a great selection of vegetarian friendly options so off we go.

Needless to say, cheese features on all menu items and we go for a mixed platter, seasonal quiche, basque tartine and a baked camembert with figs and thyme. Basically, we’ve ordered everything vegetarian friendly the menu has to offer, which is a fair volume so we’re pretty happy!

Everything we order comes attractively presented and soon our small table is filled with boards, plates, salads and cheese. So much cheese. My favourites are the baked camembert and cheese board and the breads that go with them are nutty and flavoursome and a perfect accompaniment. The quiche is hot and succulent and the tartine is oozing grilled vegetables and of course, cheese.

Never thought I would ever protest at the thought of so much cheese, but by the last mouthful of tartine, I’m beginning to flag.

To counteract the effects of all that cheese, it’s only fitting we indulge in some desserts – and fit in some more champagne at the same time. We share some macarons and go for the champagne & raspberry tiramisu. The tiramisu is loose, frothy, sweet and one of a kind – nothing at all like the more traditional coffee liqueur versions – this one is light and I could have eaten a fair few of these. The macarons are crunchy and not too sweet and round off the meal perfectly.

When you’re looking to celebrate, I more often frequent the type of restaurant with starched linen tablecloths & formally suited waiters, but it just goes to show that all you really need to celebrate is some friendly service, some great food (Even though I may not eat cheese again for some time), a warm cosy restaurant and of course, champagne.
