Nice small place to have some pintxos on the go while on SoHo. Tapas are not really "genuine" (are they genuine anywhere in London?) but are quite unapologetic about that and get some uncommon combinations on, some clearly inspired by British pub food. Result is better than expected. Will repeat.

On the very rare occasion that I went into central London, I always used to have my go-to place, Cafe Boheme. With the news that it recently closed for a refurbishment, I was not looking forward to a Friday night wander for food. Soho can get busy, you either have to book or queue. Plus there is the decision making as there are soooo many options. We were more to north end by Carnaby Street, so I thought I would check out my old hood. I used to work around here so went to Bar Red (no longer there), Studio Valbonne (gone), etc. Basically, the area on Kingly Street has been pedestrianised and there are loads of new places, one of which is Dishoom – a fave of mine! But of course, it was packed. Boo! It was time to try something new anyways.

Plus there is the decision making as there are soooo many options. We were more to north end by Carnaby Street, so I thought I would check out my old hood. We walked a wee bit and was considering Dehesa, a fantastic tapas place I tried years ago, but to no avail, it would be a queue jobby. We spotted another wee tapas place across Ganton Street, Pix Pintxos Carnaby, so we headed on over. It is small, squashed even, but cosy and cool. You can slip into booths for two, which was our preference, or settle at the high tables for 4 and more. It is counter service, apparently modelled on Pintxo bars of Catalonia and the Basque region. Dotted along the bar are hot and cold tapas filled with Iberian treats. You help yourself, then they count the skewers; £2.25 for a short one, £3.25 for a longer one and present the bill. As with all tapas, mezze, etc, you can rack up a hell of a bill if you are not careful, but this was reasonably priced.

Some of the "skewers" we grabbed were quince-coated chorizo and manchego cheese, spinach and sweet potato tortilla, marinated olives, morcilla, quail egg and piquilo peppers, serrano ham on tomato bread, chilli chicken kebab with mint and coriander yoghurt. There was so much to choose from and it was all very tempting. I didn't have a dessert but my Dublin visitor tried the churros with chocolate sauce. If you have a sweet tooth, there is also white chocolate pudding with strawberry compote. Yum.

Whilst it is “help yourself”, there is still good service. They clear your plates, talk you through the options and deliver your drinks (a nice Catalunya sauvignon blanc). They replenish the tapas quickly and for the hot dishes, they walk the room to ensure you enjoy it at optimum temperature.

The only issue is, as it is so small, is when people are queuing and waiting for tables inside. If you are sat by the bar you can hardly move your elbows to eat. It is even worse if someone has long hair, as you get a dip of it on your plate. There is also the "zoo" factor where you are watched like a hawk because you are sitting down eating and they are standing RIGHT next to you wishing they were sitting and eating. That can get a little bit annoying, but busy yourself with stuffing your face and chatting to your companion, and you soon forget.

Pix is not one, but at four different locations, suitably spread out. They have yet to venture into East London, but I see this on the horizon, as I can definitely see one on Bethnal Green Road, in Dalston or Old Spitalfields Market. This is not me being selfish because I live in the area (innocent face), it is just the right fit.

Pix Carnaby is one of our favourite haunts in Soho. It is a tapas restaurant that works like a buffet with a great variety of miniature tapas and cocktails. The food is consistently delicious and there is something for everyone. The service is good too. Definitely worth a visit if you haven't been!

We - a party of 3 - dined here on the 22nd of September 2023 at lunch. We were just walking the streets in the area when we decided to dine here - there’s a lot of restaurants but this place just looked interesting. We got a table outside - as requested - and could that way enjoy the nice atmosphere of the area. The staff is very kind, quick and professional - and shortly after getting seated we got the drinks we ordered and could go pick up the tapas we wanted. The concept is that either you order some tapas which is then freshly made - or you walk inside, grab a plate and choose from the tapas in the “buffet”-area. Each tapas comes with a short description of what it consist off. Very easy to do. And - my my - these tapas are tasty. We’ll made, fresh products, interestingly put together. My male friend and I each had 5 tapas - and our female friend had 3. This is definitely a place we would visit again.

The tapas are really nice, most of which you can take from the counter which is really easy. There are some warm tapas on the menu to order from the kitchen as well. Food quality is good. The restaurant is very cosy with mostly bar style seating. The only downside is that the music which is mostly 70s and 80s although nice doesn't match the atmosphere of a Spanish tapas restaurant. Service is great and staff are really friendly.

Return visit for my daughter. We all love tapas for the varied food selection. This chain uses the stick method to work out how much food you have eaten. Cold tapas is self service from the bar with hot food ordered via the staff from the underground kitchen. All really flavoursome. The small tables and crowded room gives it a very authentic feel.

Great tapas spot in the heart of bustling Soho. Stands apart from the many other tapas restaurants by displaying all the available plates on the counter - you simply pick what you want and they add it up at the end. Made for a really fun experience vs. making guesses at items on a menu.

My favourite bar in Soho: great wine, amazing tapas and fun and friendly staff. Their tapas are really great - always tasty, well-priced, food sizes of portions. Chill place, recommend

Whilst in London with some Spanish friends. We popped in for a few cocktails which where very good to find they did Tapas. The Tapas where great an tasty. Our friends only comment against them is that they get them for free in their village in Spain. 😂🍸🍹The only downside is the rather uncomfortable stools to sit on. We still think it is worth a 5 star rating for the food and cocktails.

Still as good as ever, although ordering from the online menu isn’t as enjoyable as picking directly from the buffet - but that can’t be helped in current circumstances. I don’t suppose many people will be buying £12 cocktails these days, but the draught Estrella Galicia is great value. Pix is still by far the best of the pinxtos and tapas genre.

Stopped for a cheeky cocktail ended up eating everything...must have pan con tomate! Shame they had run out of loads of ingredients for cocktails. Locay is great

If you ever come, please ask for Lidia, she will not only give you the best service, but the best time. So friendly and kind! Bailey also was awesome and both of them made us feel so comfortable. BEST EXPERIENCE !
