I've been coming to eat here for the past 8 years now. The Fish n Chips here has always been excellent. My personal favourite is the Cod fillet. £8.95 is actually quite fair when all the other places in Greenwich charge £11.95 and up. I've lived in Greenwich for 12 years and tried all the other ones but can't say I ever went back. Pier has always delivered on their promise of a Traditional Fish n Chips and I'm happy to eat there 2 - 3 times a month.
We were in Greenwich and undecided on where to have lunch. We encountered this place while walking down the street, and being as good a place as any we entered.
We were greeted at the counter and directed to a table in the back. A waitress appeared to take our order and our food appeared about 20-25 minutes later.
The Cod and Haddock were very fresh and served hot. The chips were crisp on the outside and perfectly cooked on the inside just the way I like it. Being intrigued by the cod roe we ordered a portion and a few minutes later were served a portion shaped like a hockey puck.
I like fish roe, and I find most people do not, and this included the waitress there who said she has never picked up the courage to taste it, and was hovering around to get feedback. While the cod roe was not bad, it was not exceptional either, and does not even come close to a masala fried fish roe I once had in Singapore, but thats another story!
The best Cheese and chips in Greenwich, but I admit I don't go as often now they've increased the price. Located in the heart of Greenwich it's the best pit stop for food without going out of your way wherever you may be going in Greenwich.
Authentic Fish & Chips, great service, lovely atmosphere. They really went out of their way to make us happy. Highly recommend. Oh and very reasonable prices too.
Reasonably priced Fish & Chips. The fish was really nice, chips okay. Service good, they kept the food warm as my family hadn't joined yet. Appreciate that.

At £5.95 for fish and chips it is very good value. I would have liked a bigger fish, however it tasted delicious.
I will definitely return and recommend to others.
We were looking for a cheap take away/no fuss restaurant in Greenwich - and stumbled upon The Pier.
You could easily walk past it, it has a thin take away shop front but go last the counter and you find the seating area in the back.
So there you are sat down in a takeaway and order your jumbo fish and chips, which was superb, by the way, and I couldn't help feeling like I was in a greasy spoon.
Not a sophisticated dining experience, simple fish and chips and polite but almost non-existent service (which I didn't mind on that day).
Fish & Chips at his most quintessential at a very low price! Eat your fill and no regrets!

I found this really nice chippy whilst on a visit back to London, good food at a good price, the guy serving looked more like an American wrestler than a seller of fish and chips.
I would really recommend this place for tasty fish,chips and a pickled onion,
and look forward to my next visit.

Firstly i honestly do not understand the poor reviews. I have been twice and both times have been excellent 5 star. None of the staff have ever been rude. The food is great quality. I had chips and a burger which tasted excellent. Ok so the food is placed in a box with wooden knives and forks. Alot of businesses have been told to be more environmentally friendly. With regards to the boxes it saves on having to use a dishwasher which these days is very costly. If they served the food on plates it would mean they would probably have to employ someone in the kitchen and then this means more time and money which equals not cost effective. With regards to sauces they could easily supply them for free.

We came here for our anniversary meal. I know what you're thinking: 'Selwyn, is this really how you want to celebrate 2 years of going out with the best person ever?' Well yes, because we went to The Trafalgar and for £38, we got it for £23.
Obviously had a pint and a tea at the Trafalgar mind while watching the river, but figured it's best for a group meal in the future. Had been talking about fish and chips all day so we scouted every shop in Greenwich and decided to come here.
Food was made fresh so we listened to Radio X while having a strong cup of tea and waiting. Got given an extra gherkin for our troubles and devoured a lovely haddock and chip meal and sat indoors.
Left with some takeaway and said bye to the friendly staff. Came home to reheat the chips in a pan, bit of water to steam them up and dunked them in our fish curry gravy I made last night and it was incredible trying the batter.
Can't wait to have it again but it is like 1800 calories! Definitely a treat. Thanks for being there! See you soon
