This might just be a market cafe but Esin cooks and presents food worthy of any quality restaurants standards

No way is this a greasy spoon. Apart from the noisy surroundings which is to be expected due to being in the heart of Billingsgate Market which in itself is an experience, you would think that you were in a top restaurant. The food is cooked to perfection and presented the same. Highly recommended.

We have read recommendations about the scallop breakfast so we had to try it. Definitely did not disappointment. It was quite filling, the garlicky buttery taste of the scallops laid on top of a shell was delicious. £12 for this to include coffee is very reasonable in my humble opinion. We also had the scallops bacon roll and for £6 with coffee is worth it. Charming cafe with historic photos on the wall. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience and would say the same thing ... don't miss having a relaxing breakfast here when visiting the fish market.

Formica tables and plastic stadium style chairs, with an old school menu board and a constant hum of activity in the kitchen. An absolutely stunning example of a hidden gem. I had the full full English #6 with a side of scallops because I heard they were awesome. They were. Sage sausage and back bacon are totally on point, with the massive amounts of toast and fry bread being a second. Certainly one of the most massive and satisfying Full English I’ve ever had. A must stop.

Just honest hearty food with large portions. However I have some minor criticism. I tried the haddock (£14) which was quite salty, and it was smoked. The seabass (£12) tasted like it was cooked from frozen. I expected the fishes to be cooked from fresh as the cafe is in the fish market! If they served fresh grilled fish it would have been perfect.

Billingsgate Cafe is still the best seafood breakfast in London. I’m slowly working my way through the menu, Bacon and Scollop roll, Scollop Breakfast, kippers will be next 😋

Recommended scallops bacon burger . Breakfast with whole fish (pickled fish ) ,was too salty for me ,but tasty and be able to take breakfast in the fishmarket was good experience.

Billingsgate Cafe, is a classic! With their rich heritage, they have been there since the place billingsgate market was open, fresh fresh from the sellers to the grill, prices are quite decent, no restaurant can match those low prices as they get the fish for such a low price they are able to sell it a low price. All the fishermen, buyers, sellers you see them eat there, it’s a bit smelly as it is inside the fish market but the food is worth it all!

A cosy friendly bolt hole amongst the bustle & smells of the market where the chat and good food make all better

This is the go to breakfast place when you finish the early shopping for fish and seafood at Billingsgate. One of a dying bread of the great British " greasy spoons". Oh and you can actually get a scallop or shrimp breakfast! How about that!

Very affordable restaurant right at the first exit/entrance into the market premises. They gave such a broad menu, from breakfast options to wraps to kebab etc. My husband and I visited after going to the market and we had the sea bass with chips and salad. It was fresh and nice. I think it's a cash place too. They gave an ATM in the café which has a withdrawal charge so beware. Service was pretty fast too.

After doing our shopping at the market we had breakfast at the café. We had the bacon and scallops bun. It comes with tea or coffee and for £6 it's quite good value. The bun was super soft and the scallops were covered in delicious butter
