🚇 Farringdon 🍺 £5.20 Amstel ❤️ A secluded pub in the backstreets of Clerkenwell. . The Horseshoe is located halfway between Exmouth Market and Farringdon Station. The five minute walk here from Farringdon station is a pleasurable one as you navigate the winding backstreets through Clerkenwell. . When I arrived at this pub I thought to myself what a great setting for a pub. The pub is surrounded by old converted warehouses, smart Georgian houses and Victorian built apartments. This pub is very easy on the eye with its leaded windows, green painted frontage and it’s overall chocolate box charm. . As you step inside you would expect a small snug bar pub but it its not. This one bar pub is laid out in an L shape with a dart board at one end and a semi snug area at the other. The decor here is traditional and simple throughout with green and white walls that are punctuated by a dado rail, some exposed brickwork and lots of posters of 60’s & 70’s music icons and west end musicals. There are several screens dotted around the pub showing live sport and a beer garden out the back for the warmer months or a quick smoke. . The beer choice was full of the regular protagonists and not overly diverse, there were a couple of cask options and Guinness was available. I opted for an Amstel which at just over a fiver was good value and was well received on this hot summer day. I didn’t see any food offerings on this visit. . I was served by The Guv’nor and ended up having a chat about his pub. He has been at the helm of this independent pub for thirty years and has seen many ups and downs during his tenure. In this pub’s heyday there were over twenty dart teams who frequented this pub and played on the five dartboards that are located upstairs. The upstairs is now predominantly used for functions these days and can be hired out. . The Horseshoe was an excellent find and definitely a pub for the traditionalist pub goer. The setting is atmospheric, the pub is charming and the welcome great. This pub doesn’t open on weekends so why not book a Friday off with your mates and put this pub at the centre of a pub crawl around Clerkenwell. . 📊 Information correct on visiting 19/08/22

I am writing to say the waiters were very lovely and had such a lovely energy to them, especially one lady called Rebekah. She was the most polite and friendly girl, she apologised when the food arrived a little late and engaged in conversations with my friend and I. An angel!

This is a great pub for watching sports in Clerkenwell. I went in to watch a daytime cricket match and the staff couldn’t have been more helpful- they were friendly and happy to turn the sound on for the match. The pub itself is quite old school and basic but it is clean and comfortable. The draught beer selection is disappointing though, and the price of a pint seemed to go up after about 6pm, which was a bit confusing. I’d recommend this pub if you’re ever in the area and you’re looking for somewhere to watch sport.

Amazing pub, a lot lot bigger inside than it may look from the outside. Had a nice afternoon drink here and an hour playing on one of the many available dartboards they have upstairs. Will definitely return.

Good fun there, but disappointing for the limited choice of draft beers. Most of all the atmosphere is excellent here This is also the place for cricket fans

Great pub in general. Usually visit this place 2-3 times a week with my colleagues to play some darts. Good beer selection and great 60s, 70s and 80s tunes. If you are looking for nice pub to spend your afternoon in, I highly recommend The Horseshoe. Also, the staff is super friendly.

Great venue, really friendly and accommodating staff. Function room upstairs was excellent and the staff were so helpful. Would recommend for functions or just popping in for a pint after work. Cheers
