Went especially for a breakfast which my wife and I enjoy over the years, it does not disappoint. I enjoyed the Forest Breakfast which was serve promptly and by smiling waitress who was very attentive to our needs. Our accompanying tea was hot and very refreshing, but I had to ask for more sugar (sweet tooth).
I ate it all and enjoyed every mouthful, in this exceptional cafe/bistro, I can recommend the Sunday lunch’s as well.
Warm welcome, slick service and the food is delicious, prepared fresh and regardless how busy they are, served in double quick time, big shout out to Ercan and his team.
The Turkish sausage and eggs are the best item on the menu, never disappoints.
Kaplan’s was one of the best finds in quaint town of Lydney. I happened to visit it for the first time in the late afternoon, as this was probably the most promising open eatery in this town, and I reached it walking past all the other highly rated eateries in the town, to this place - probably the last of the eateries in that stretch.
The location, ambience, decoration and the menu - all impressed me in the first look itself. The menu had some good options of variety dishes and drinks. I went with the chefs special menu and Google reviews to pick my food and drink.
I went with Parmesan Chicken Breast & their signature Hot Chocolate. I loved everything about both the items. The hot chocolate had cocoa powder spread like a dressing and came with a biscoff cookie. The Parmesan chicken came with my choice rice, salads and crisps. Both these items were presented well, had a generous quantity and tasted well too. It was all worth the money (~14£ in total).
I also liked the fact that the chef took interest in coming to me and checking if I liked it. We had a short yet good conversation about the food. All the staff were friendly and hospitable. I’ve shortlisted quite a few items including the chocolate chip cookies for my next visit.
I’m sure that there are quite a lot of regular customers here for just the hot beverages - tea, coffee and hot chocolate, and I’m not surprised.

Regardless of whether you are looking for a snack or a full meal you will find something there to curb your appetite and tickle your fancy. It also does t matter when you get there so feel free to enjoy a delicious breakfast a nice lunch or a full blown dinner.
Would recommend the food here, Excellent selection of Mediterranean food, with large portions, good service an plenty of room, was a quiet day so atmosphere was good for us at the time, but looks like it can get busy...
Great range of breakfasts and food, with gluten free options.
