General Store Restaurant

Over the years we have gone to the General Store Restaurant in the Hume Hotel many times. Clean, super friendly staff and great food is the best way to describe it. I thoroughly enjoy the historical aspect of the building and how well its been preserved. Best part of my meal was the crème brûlée. Stop in check it out for yourself.

Came here for lunch and we really enjoyed it! We got the daily special and the Reuben, which were both delicious. To finish the meal off we got the lemon meringue pie and it was SO YUMMY! Service was quick and friendly. We also really enjoyed the decor inside. Remember to read the history of the building on the back of the menu. Thanks Daira!

Nice family restaurant to bring the kids. Everyone enjoyed their food - grilled cheese and fries for one kid, spaghetti for another. I tried a greek-themed skillet for brunch - the sourdough bread on the side was a highlight. I haven't had a similar diah anywhere and would recommend it. Others in the group were happy with the Silver King Clubhouse and Pacific eggs benny (with crab). Fries were crispy. While we waited, there was interesting history to read about for the adults and colouring for the kids. Love the renos and how they have heritage themed items everywhere.

Overall it was good but not exceptional. The presentation was fair but the quality was just above average. The staff wore faceshields in the seating area and were very friendly. The attention to detail needs work as 1 person in our group got the classic water Glass with lipstick. I felt I paid at the top end for the food offered.

Delightful! Cool old building with really interesting old photos (ask your server for stories), mocha was fantastic with real whipped cream (just add a pinch of salt to take it to the next level), vegetable benny was amazing (fried halloumi for the win), and the breakfast sandwich were all fantastic!
